William Brannon: I needed to drill some drain holes in a large Ceramic crock. I used a pilot hole in a block of wood as a guide. Plenty of water, light pressure and I used two of these for five holes. Great for limited use DIY.

Var: These are really great for drilling drainage holes in ceramic or clay pots. Very easy to do. I don't know about longevity, but I got a pack of 5 for just a couple dollars more than I was going to pay for one that never arrived! Highly recommend this company. They arrived quickly too. Great price. Will ad a photo for the next pot I drill.

jackjack: I was quite nervous and tested it on a strip of granite waste. Thankfully I did. The trial run prepared me for some extra prep work. The bit slide around without a starter guard. Without a guard you will scratch the surface pretty bad. So for my solution:

I drilled a strip of wood of wood with 1/2 drill and did a little filing to allow the bit to slide through. I retested it on the granite waste by stepping on the wood strip with my weight near the hole. I slowly drilled it until it created a ring. Proof of concept worked. So I moved to the real deal.

Once the ring was created, I followed the instructions to use plumbers putty to create a reservoir. Put water in it then restarted the drilling.

I did it slowly and it took about 5 minutes. Reservoir turned grey as it collected the dust.

Also, place towels and/or bucket under the drill hole to catch the granite piece and water when it punches through

Joe Airaudi: I had to cut 6 holes in porcelain tile for a showe install. The same size but from the big hardware store was $40. For this set, I got extras, and I was fully expecting the “Diamond” to wear off quickly. Honesty I could have done all 6 holes with 1 bit. It cut them all cleanly, no breaks or cracks. And it went slow enough that I could stop at the drywall. To get the hole started, I had to cut a hole in a large board and put some non-slip feet in the back. Once it was started, I just went slow and let the bit do the work. Every few seconds, I dipped the bit in a cup of water to clear debris/dust and cool it down. Maybe no necessary, but that method worked on another project in granite, so I did it. Great buy on these.
