Kerri E. Bonvie: I absolutely loved this book. It spans from Linc and Sunny’s childhood, through their teen years. I hate his father. He is such a complete jerk. He was abusive to Linc physically, emotionally, and had always found him to be an unfortunate presence. His father was a typical narcissist and as soon as Linc took his mother’s attention away from his father there was no going back.

I adored Linc. He was everything his father was not. He fell for a girl who had been his best friend since childhood. I loved the lengths he would go through to see Sunny. I spent summer’s at a family campground and what the Linc and Sunny shared that summer was relatable, simple, and pure. Did I mention I hate his father?

Fast forward ten years to adulthood when Linc had to return to a place he was literally ripped from. My heart cried for him. I don’t know if I could have returned to the small town even if it was to rip down the family home. Linc’s father had poisoned and ruined an entire town. Linc had so many things stacked against him trying to rebuild this small town especially where Sunny was concerned. I loved their story. Their growth. I loved reading and discovering all the...

Books_on_my_shelve: ❤️❤️This is a wonderful story of young love, of Linc and Sunny.❤️❤️
But one person can change and demage everything, one person who was supossed to love and support.
10 years of agony and hurt seems impossible for them to continue and find what they lost, but maybe their love can be enough and heal the wounds and maybe it is enough to find their chance for a HEA.

I did enyoj reading this story, it was really hard to read the beginning of Linc's and Sunny's lovestory because of so much pain 😢. But as always Melanie Morrland knows how to make the pain worth.
I loved the strenght of the main characters, how strong Sunny was for Linc, how she helped him to understand there is more than just revenge, that everyone is a human who deserves understanding. Linc despite his past was able to survive ank keep the good in him.
The sidecharacters were amazing too and the epilogues! I just love it! 😍👍.
I really would not mind to read Abby's and Michael story and Amanda's too, who knows 😉.

Amarilys Santiago: This book, this story need to be read, everyone needs Linc and Sunny. They are a really refreshing couple. This second chance romance is going to be one of my favorite, that’s for sure, (I already have the ebook and the paperback copy, I need them forever with me). This story started with them as kids/young and I love how Melanie write them, so real. I love them them and after wow, they growth into a really different adults but meeting again changes everything. Their story is full of emotions, heat and love. I love Linc and Sunny together, the perfect HEA. I want more of Mission Cove and I definitely want to live there, please!

Kindle Customer: Another exceptional book from a proven author who doesn't disappoint. Childhood sweethearts, a brutal father, forced apart - can they pick up where they left off? Do they want to? A highly romantic struggle which grips you, keeps you linked into the rollercoaster of emotion till the HEA. A joy to read. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 💞😏👍

Sandra , I am 65 years young. I love God, my husband, children, grandchildren ,and live.. I also love reading my Bible and books 📚📚📚: “Sunny?” She didn’t open her eyes. “I feel you looking at me. I’m fine, Linc. A bit tired, but fine.” “Then you need to rest more. You do too much for too many people.” A smile tugged on her lips. She opened her eyes, the look she gave me warm and tender. “I will.” Then she picked up a small bag. “I got you something.” I took the bag, filled with curiosity. I loved buying Sunny presents and did so regularly. She deserved to be spoiled. Her gifts were rarer. She said I was hard to buy for, but the truth was, I had all I wanted. Usually her gifts came in the form of a new kind of biscuit or something lacy she would wear for me. Those, I had to confess, were my favorite gifts. But this bag was too heavy for lacy. I reached in and pulled out a small pot, containing a plant. I frowned at the odd gesture, then looked at Sunny. Her expression was bright, her eyes luminous. “Um, thank you?” I murmured. “For my desk?” I guessed. She shook her head. “I want to plant it about ten feet that way.” She pointed toward the house. “Oh. Another willow?” “Yes,” she said. “A baby willow. I thought we could plant it in recognition of the one you...

Tracy ~ Book Loving Pixies: I adore Melanie Moreland.... her writing makes me feel good - it also makes me cry at times, smile huge, swoon, sigh hard and feel the heat between her characters... but most of all, it gives me the feels.

I loved that Linc and Sunny had a past. The heartache they both went through at the hands of others was palpable but that they could reconnect and try to see if that summer they were together could turn into a future was such a positive thing and in the grand scheme of Linc’s determination to overwrite the past it was one of the best things they could do!

As teens they were both broken in some way and gravitated to each other and that was no different in the present. They were the balm to each other’s souls, but had to much time passed since that summer, had they both changed too much?

I was engaged in their story from the get go. I so wanted things to work for them - though I could understand both of their hesitance and uncertainty.

The Summer of Us is one of my favourite reads so far this year and one I most definitely recommend you check out.

A 5* read for sure IMHO.

Gillek2: The childhoods of Linc and Sunny couldn’t have been more different but that didn’t matter to either one of them. Even though there was someone in their lives who was determined to keep them apart, as teenagers they had one magical summer together that neither was ever able to forget even though they have been separated for the last decade.

Linc is no longer a teenager who is forced to submit to the will of others but is a powerful and successful man in his own right while Sunny has created her own business doing what she loves. When he returns to his hometown reuniting with Sunny was his dream come true but will the love they have for each other be enough to overcome all the heartbreak they have endured while they have been apart?

Linc and Sunny are soulmates and no amount of physical distance or time could ever change that. They have endured so much to be together which has only made them and their love that much stronger.

Pamela Waddell: The Summer of Us is a continuation of a short story by the same name which you may have read in the One Hot Summer Anthology. Part 1 of this book is the short story. If like me your read this short story, you might have been a little peeved at one Miss M Moreland, that Linc & Sunny didn’t get their happy ever after at the end of the story. Well here it is!
10 years after their sudden unexplained separation, the death of Linc’s domineering father prompts his returns to Mission Cove and Sunny. They are both are successful in their careers but are suffering from the loss of their love. Sunny has become a determine & self-reliant bakery owner. Linc a successful businessman, hell-bent on removing his father’s legacy from the world & correcting all the harm he caused. As a strong woman, Sunny is not willing to settle for any less than she deserves. She finds herself concerned about Linc’s hatred of his father, how much it has been the force driving his life since they were torn apart by him. As they to learn to trust each other again and get to know the people they are now, the feelings of 10 years continue to grow.
Their journey is enhanced with the introduced...

Cathy: This is an expansion of the short story in One Hot Summer which fulfils your need for more of the Lincoln and Sunny Story.

Linc and Sunny had a secret relationship in their youth that was derailed by Linc's overbearing and powerful father who had his own plans. This looks more into the second chance at that relationship as they are brought back together 10 years later. Lincoln has grown up, the balance of power has changed and he knows what he wants. Sunny has built up her own strength and inner power in his absence. I liked the additional material that showed how Lincoln had grown, changed and what had happened to him in the time they were apart. I was impressed with Sunny's determination that she would not settle for less than she deserved in a relationship. The addition of Abby and Mike and the suspense element of the story really added to the strength for me. I would like to see more of Abby's story.
Melanie Moreland always writes these wonderful women who are strong minded and sure of their worth deep down, but have not lost the softness and warmth and traditional qualities, they all seem to show their love with food. I like that.
