I am kicking myself that I didn't buy this vacuum sooner!
I love the Miele Blizzard canister Vacuum.
It was the price. I just kept thinking wow that is a hefty price for something that might break or won't work in a year. So I tried a handful of other vacuums and bought them from target. Target has an easy show up drop off return policy. I tried each one for a few weeks... I tried the Dyson upright ball, Shark Swivel pro-pet and Hoover Wind-tunnel. Don't even waste your time buying these.. Just bite the bullet and buy a Miele.
None of those vacuums compared to the Miele Blizzard. The Miele Blizzard hands down is the fit for me. In the past we had a central vac system. We also had the hoover wind-tunnel to cover drapes or place the central vac didn't cover that last 15 years but was probably only truly used for 3 full years.
The Blizzard is a canister vac. I grew up with an old canister vac that would bump into your legs causing cruel shin bruises as you did your family chores. My siblings and I would fight for who got stuck vacuuming with those mean machines. So I avoided canister vacs. WOW the Miele is nothing like those...

julie nutter: I have 12 indoor rescue cats, of which 2 are long haired, and a little dog. I have been throu more upright vacuums than I care to think about...a Dyson animal that I had to replace the vacuum head on annually every year til the warranty ran out...so my house killed 5 vacuum heads! It also distroyed 4 top of the line Hoover's in just 3 years and a Shark pet in 6 months! So my home and pets are hard on vacuum cleaners. The majority of my home is hard core vinyl, with carpeting in only 2 bedrooms, and 2 large area rugs and runners. This wonderful vacuum handles all of my flooring perfectly....it's easy to maneuver....and easy to change the heads for different jobs. The suction is strong and the power head pulls itself on carpet and area rugs...you just have to guide it. The attachments work well , plus the pet tool for upholstery is the first one I've ever had that actually worked like it should. It didn't take long to get use to pulling a canister behind me, because eventhou it is built solid, it's not heavy or hard to maneuver. The only thing that has taken me awhile to get use to is emptying the dirt cup more often, but I think I have that down now. ...

Velocitas:
I purchased this vacuum to replace a Dyson DC50 that was nothing but a disappointment. For the money, the Dyson had abysmal build quality, mediocre suction, and flat-out lies in the brochure (a vacuum claiming to have "zero filters" has two of them, which do clog, bringing the mediocre suction down even further). Miele has a long history of making some of the finest vacuums available, albeit only available as bagged models. I have three dogs, so dirt and hair build up fast, and if I were to go with a bagged vacuum, I'd be burning through a bag every three days - the expense adds up quick. Now that Miele has added a bagless vacuum to their lineup, I decided enough was enough, tossed the Dyson out into the scrap pile, and spent far more than I was comfortable with to get the lowest-model of the "Electro" tier of vacuums (the only models that can use a powered brush head).
I am VERY glad I did so. The Miele has four times the canister capacity of the Dyson, much stronger suction (even after thoroughly cleaning the Dyson inside and out), moves much more air, is an order of magnitude quieter, and has a wand that one can actually use to reach low spots and...
