Kindle Customer: Nathan is sitting in his back yard drinking a beer, hungry because he forgot to buy food when he hears his new neighbor come outside. Then he begins to smell meat cooking on the grill. Groaning with pleasure at the smell he alerts the neighbor. She inquires if he is alright and a friendship begins over his very tall fence. I found the concept of two people becoming friends and that relationship developing into more without them ever having met face to face. So different from eyes meeting across the room and electricity flashing between the first time they touch.Nate is such a sweet guy probably not what men want to hear but true. He is gentle and considerate of Kourtney recognizing how shy she is but when he thinks she is in distress he is over the fence to defend her.
I loved how the story developed as they got to know each other and started opening up about their lives. Each has a story to tell that touched me with what they had been through. Kourtney is strong and brave. She has worked hard to be able to do the job she does and dose it very well. We learn more about them all through the story and I truly loved the ending. I don't want to give away too much of the story....

Cynema: Do fences really make good neighbors?
I read this remarkable, beautiful story in 2015, after devouring Into the Storm and Beneath the Scars by Ms. Moreland … and became an avid fan of her books for life. Over the Fence is one of those rare, insightful, and illuminating romances that is as relevant and vibrant today with all its heartfelt emotions, as it was in 2015. The unlikely romance between new neighbors Kourtney and Nathan is beyond unconventional. Early on, much of it takes place sight unseen over their shared backyard fence in conversations and homecooked meals … until it doesn’t, and those secrets and insecurities that Kourtney hides finally come into the light of day for real face-to-face encounters. What a great, clever device that fence was in allowing Kourtney to keep her distance from Nathan. Reminds me of texting and social media today, where anyone can be anything without being seen by the other party. In truth, how much braver we all are hiding behind a “fence”, but we can actually become all we can be once coaxed away from that fence …
What is Kourtney hiding from Nathan and so afraid of? You’ll have to read the book to find out. It’s...

Tabitha: This book started out so strong, but it got repetitive fast. The same conversations were had multiple times. I really liked both Nathen and Kourtney. The story was fresh and both characters were likable and the chemistry seemed real and not forced. Like I said though, this book could have shaved off 50-100 pages by just not constantly repeating the same things over and over (Kourtney is insecure and Nat constantly has to reassure her, but it’s the same conversations and same wording almost every time!) Possible spoiler!!!!
I also wished there was more of a conclusion with Kourtney’s brother, it didn’t feel like that was complete. Or her father.

Peter Placzek & Malgorzata Kawa: Admittedly, this is my first time reading romance. However, I enjoyed reading the book very much.
I haven't read many books before, but I enjoyed the way the characters were developed. The writing truly made me believe these people were real, and seeing them overcome their insecurities and fears and slowly learn to love each other more and more really warmed my heart.
I loved how believable the story is too; how this seems like something that could possibly occur in reality. There were no extreme exaggerations, circumstances or events that seemed to be put in only to make the story move along. I thought everything developed quite organically and realistically, and I was never rolling my eyes at how unplausible an event was or something like that.
I was hooked in the beginning because of the comedy and intriguing characters, kept reading for the action and development of those characters, and was left happily satisfied with the ending. Sometimes, I couldn't fall asleep after I put down the book, because I just needed to know what would come next. My eyes were glued to the pages, and I was never bored.
I also love the epilogue. I would have been very...

Katie David: This book is amazing. Written by Melanie Moreland. She draws you in, from the moment Nathan and Kourtney talk to each other. This story made me fall in love with these characters, Nathan and Kourtney both have pasts that they don't want to go back to. Kourtney is scared that Nathan doesn't like her for who she is. But Nathan sees this beautiful stunning girl right in front of him and shows her what he sees. And Nathan has a past that makes him think that once Kourtney knows about it will run to hills and never look back, back she tells him that she loves him for who he is not what his past is about. When they finally show each other their physical and emotional scares, they find a way past everything else and tell each other they love each other and nothing will hurt them again. They way Melanie has written this story is stunning. It just keeps you wanting more, and you never want to stop reading this story. It shows a story off trust, protection and love. This amazing lady has done an amazing job with this story and I will tell people to go and buy this, because you will get hooked on the story but also on the love and chemistry you feel for this couple. I can't wait to see what...

Carrie: It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Melanie Moreland. I loved her first book, Into the Storm, and her second novel, Beneath the Scars, was one of my favourite reads of 2014. That’s why I was so happy to see she had a new book out.
Over the Fence is told from the viewpoint of Nathan, a computer expert, and tells the story of his new neighbor, Kourtney, who moves in to the house next door. The two form an unconventional friendship over the fence between their yards, swapping first food and then confidences, all the while not knowing what the other looks like. Of course, they become closer, enough that Nat is desperate to get to know more about the accomplished ‘chefgirl’ next door. And when they finally meet face-to-face, they both discover that beauty doesn’t only run skin deep.
Witty and heartwarming, Over the Fence is a perfect love story to curl up with. Neither character is perfect, and they both have their own crosses to bear, but we see them grow and develop as the story continues. Kourtney becomes braver, and Nat thaws out to become the strong man that she needs, supporting her at her weakest moments.
The thing I love best about the story is the...

Christel: I read this book, the first time some years ago, not sure exactly, and found it absolutely delightful. I love a good book filled with emails or text messages and this one delivered. Reading this time I began to think some of the things about Kourtney's were so far fetched until it hit me, I actually know that past. Not the never being loved by anyone, not the brother (mine were exceptional and only caused minor problems for me lol) but the father. I was so estranged from my own father I didn't really put it together until almost the end. I love the way the author handled that part. That's why I stick by the original rating. Beautiful story
