Stephen: I purchased the Medify MA-14 Air Purifier for my small apartment and I've been extremely impressed with its performance. I suffer from seasonal allergies and have noticed a significant improvement in my symptoms since I started using this air purifier.

The H13 True HEPA filter does an excellent job of removing allergens, dust, and other pollutants from the air. I have two cats and have noticed a reduction in pet dander as well. The purifier is also great for removing cooking odors and cigarette smoke.

Simone D: The unit looks nice on a shelf, appears to be built very well and it was on sale which was the reason for my purchase. Our house is quite clean, however the filter literally lasted 8 weeks before it needed changed. That was 10 weeks of being on no more than 6 hours per night. When I removed the filter and checked it, I thought it looked quite clean, but the light on the unit said time to change it.

When I saw the price of the filters, and that they had increased since I bought the unit, it was a hard pill to swallow. I can't spend $60-80 every 8 weeks on a filter - that's not good value at all. I'm regretting the purchase now as the cost to use is very high, but I did find some less costly filters eventually which saved me about approx. $25 per filter. They were also better than the originally installed unit as well so look around for better filter deals if you do decide to purchase this unit.

And, don't be roped into a sweetly priced unit deal, until you fully understand the cost of replacement filters. They often give a deal on the unit, but then you're hooked into the costly filters going forward. Pick a unit with the most generic filtering types possible so you...

Nicky: Pros:
-Actually helps improve air quality in my small studio apartment that has no exhaust fan in the kitchen. As a person sensitive to smells I regret not getting this little machine sooner.
-Works wonders for food smell (the major reason I got this purifier). I usually turn it to the highest speed when cooking with windows open so the greasy air would clear out fast, and it does.
-It seems of great quality and holds up well to being carried around and tipped over a few times during moving.
Cons:
-Wouldn't be sufficient in larger space with just one model. I would say one model for each room is ideal.
-The maximum power mode is quite noisy but if you get used to it, it's just white noise.
-The filter won't stay screwed in and often falls out. Since we don't really move it around, it's okay.
-The filter seems very expensive compared to other brands' models.
Even though I listed more cons than pros, I would recommend this product to anyone who expects to get a HEPA purifier within this budget range. Although it does make a difference, it's only improving not cleansing -- so if you're a smoker, don't expect it to get rid of all the odor, it's only going to...

Amazon Customer: I originally bought this for two reasons. My neighbour smokes and I don't know how but all of her cigarette smoke comes directly into my unit. Second I notice when I open my blinds in the morning you can see all the dust in the air and I thought that may be the reason my husband doesn't sleep well, because of poor air quality. First I would like to say this is very compact and simple. I did a price comparison in my local Canadian Tire store and this is very well priced. It is super quiet no matter what level it's on. I could probably sleep with it on the highest level it's that quiet. When I opened the box I noticed this was advertised with a "Pre Filter" which I didn't see. I have since come to the conclusion that this must be the plastic grate which is the casing that lets the air through. Not sure how that will catch anything but ok. Not impressed with that. Next is the filter. I have a dyson vacuum and it has a hepa filter. I guarantee you you cannot see through that filter. This filter you can see daylight through. Robb Bell: Please see additional comments on other registered model the MA 14, for which I purchased (on sale ) a 4 pack of filters and than a 2 pack (for one ma 14 unit dual filter . These are great products. Better than the $1200 model I purchased with UV and only true heppa.(not heppa 13)These do what they say and are great. can in needed run so quiet can barley be heard. I change filter on the ma 14 every month as Its in a room with an asthmatic with COPD so want the cleanest air I can get. Other is in the bedroom. Our unit is 4500 SQ feet or less MAX 500 min 400 Office doesn't even know. But for summer I am getting an MA 40 for the main room, than separate the units out more. They are great. So much less dust, and for me no more constant runny nose and medication. Including mold growth on a cup in hiding w/liquid left. This no longer an issue.

Fudge Brownie: I ordered two of these last spring. The first one was perfect and is serving me well in the room with 4 litter boxes. Whenever I scoop the boxes the machine, really does detect the activity and the extra dust in the air and amps up to a faster speed to clear the dust.

Even though it’s in this one room, it has really helped the ground floor of my 2 story home become less dusty. And in most modes it is quiet enough that my cats actually like it and like to lie down in front of it. Strange, but I’m glad they like it. The feature sets are listed so I won’t go into those but everything works well. I don’t use any night mode, though, so I can’t speak to that. I just run it on auto and once in awhile use the ionizing cleaning.

Much to my relief, there have been no weird burning plastic odors as reported with some other brands in the 8 or 9 months I’ve been running it.

I did get a separate warranty registration in the mail because apparently one was omitted in the shipment sent to me. I found that interesting. I do wish I had registered within the prescribed period of time, but I’d put it aside while I dealt with other things and just let it...

DigitalDadDigitalDad: I have a 3 year old and a 1 and a half year old sharing a room. They both developed a bit of runny nose and some conditions that appeared like allergies.

My son was taking Albuterol to help with his breathing and wheezing in his chest for a while ( some of my reviews show the inhalers and nebulizers I've bought or returned to deal with his breathing issues ). We've also been running a cool humidifier next to my son's crib to help with his nasal issues as recommended by various doctors.

This last time of ending up at the ER with my son leaking from his nose and having heavy breathing was kind of it for me so I decided to try and improve the air quality of their room. We run standard air filters in our home and have very little build up on our fans/air conditioning outlets so I don't believe it's a heavy particulate issue, but I said what the hell let me order it.
