jme: I got these to naturally cleanse the water in my fresh water aquarium for my tadpoles. They smelled like a rich, old, pond but that didn't bother me much becuase I kinda liked that smell, my husband, however, did not. But they were definitely a lot smaller than I expected, but seeing how it was for a midsize tank that didn't bother me much either. The tadpoles LOVED them! They were newly swimming and only a few weeks passed hatchlings so they provided an excellent source of nutrients for them. They were so cute swimming up under them and nibbling away. They only last nearly 2 weeks but they were very helpful in aiding the healthy growth of my tadpole babes so it was a good purchase for me.
