J Osborne: I had one of these for many years, purchased about 25 years ago I think, but it went missing. I use a Starrett most of the time (absolutely worth the money...you'll never regret it) but this little pen jobby is so handy to have, especially for ladder work where you may need to hold a part with one hand while punching with the other, or reaching past deeper lips on parts and such. The punch force is plenty strong enough - you can adjust it very slightly if need be or source lighter springs if you work on particularly thin or soft metals.

These are pretty much made exactly the same as they have been for a very long time, and still made in the US, but I think the quality is slightly lower than it used to be. The knurling on the cone and the top cap on mine is pretty terrible - like an oops moment that got passed along the line anyway. There are chuck marks on the body but who cares about that. Tip is not as sharp (fixable) but the metal doesn't seem to be as hard so it's dulling faster than my old one. Haven't had any misfires with it yet but that does happen sometimes.

If you want to disassemble yours and clean up any burrs and such, remove the top cap and top end...

Jambijuce: I really want to love this thing, but it's turning out to be a constant source of frustration. It'll work ten times in a row without issue and then it will refuse to work. Loosening, tightening, disassembling, and reassembling will always remedy the issue, but it gets old having to fuss with it. I've gotten to the point where I don't use it anymore, simply because I never know if it'll work when I need it.

Chris C.: Very light and comfortable to hold. Variable adjustment works well in steel, plastic and wood leaving the desired dimlpe.

I used steel auto punches during my working career in aviation and this works every bit as well.

All I can do no is use it and see if it stands the test of time.

Lincoln County MT: Both punch's work well. Bought because husband was borrowing mine too often and when that's going on one of these days mine wouldn't be there when I wanted it and I might be told it never was mine...after 47 years of marriage I know the routine if not dance here so he got two punch's for his BD this year. And he likes them both. I am not happy he snapped the one to demonstrate on the marble kitchen table. I yelled NO YOU DON'T but he ignored and did it anyway. Yes he had a thin piece of cardboard under it but that thing went right through it as I knew it would. He's a bit hard headed and I was ticked. All he said was That shouldn't have happened. RIGHT that's always the answer...gotta be a male thing. Aplogies not from him. Cause it should not have happened !!!! Life is a compromise and as Dr. Phill puts it do you want to be RIGHT or do you want to be HAPPY. Phil is a guy he seems to miss the point most of us females feel and think..we want both !!!! Sorry Phil I do try...for happy...lol I try.
