Spindrift: This product works well and lights a fire in our woodstove easily, but it does need kindling. One nugget will not light logs without kindling to help the fire along.

PyramidPyramid: In the winter we like to have the occasional fireplace burn and summer while camping.

These little starters will be so handy! I found it easy to get lit.
To try it, I lit one in the fireplace and it had a good flame for almost 20 minutes!
I will toss a bunch in to a plastic bag and off to camping.

My only gripe is that when I opened the shipping box from Amazon it had a collection of wood pieces from the lighter nuggets.

UPDATE July 21, 2018 Just got back from camping and used these starters. They worked perfectly! One morning, the wood was damp on the outside from the rain overnight. It took the whole content of the nugget but the fire caught and soon was burning fine.

Miranda: Tried the Rutland fire starter squares and definitely prefer this product. Stays lit for longer giving even damp wood a chance to light. Flame is bigger as well. No smell. Often does take just one - the squares I could use 6+ on one fire sometimes. Have mine stored in a glass jar on the shelf for easy access. Will use these from now on!

Sue T: We heat our house with our woodstove, and these little firestarters make it so easy to light the stove. 2 smallish logs on the bottom, 2" apart. Balance 2 starters between them and 2 more smallish logs crossways on top. As long as your wood is properly dry, you don't need any paper, and you don't even really need kindling. Hold your match under the starters for about 15 seconds to get them nicely lit.

SSI Hermit: My son and I heat two houses with wood stoves. We have been using this product for 2 or 3 years now. Using Lightning Nuggets is the ONLY way to start fires daily! The old method of newspaper and kindling is too much work and almost impossible these days with newsprint that won't burn hardly at all. Must be the new paper and the inks they use. Finding these nuggets has made our fire lighting lives a pleasure instead of a chore!
