ksue@gmailksue@gmail: These burn long enough to catch the wood that was damp from two days of rain with only one day to dry. Much better than several others I’ve tried. I had tried 5packets of another brand and nothin. Used 3 of these fire starters and got this fire in under five minutes. Won’t use anything else from now on.

Karin S.: I hesitated to buy these until I tried to light the wood pellets for our new pizza oven. After looking at these starters, we began with a handful of pine shavings (their "wood wool" is an interesting term), but that experiment just went nowhere. The key ingredient to these, almost unlisted, is palm wax. These starters are almost odorless and when you touch a match to them they catch immediately and burn steadily and really do get the pellets going nicely. They come packed in a good cardboard box. I decided to repack them into a spare clear plastic (ca. 2-quart jar) for long term storage and used that opportunity to actually count them - why not? Surprisingly, we received 52 1/2 of them (one is very short), that calculates to 75% of their estimated 70 starters. Pretty far off the mark. That is my only disappointment.
