Gerald Andrus: I have a ice making machine, because my refrigerator ice maker quit working. I put the ice created by the new machine into a plastic container in my freezer. Because the created ice gets partially melted when being produced, the pieces of ice tend to stick together in their container when frozen. If I can get ice of this container, that will fit in the supplied bag, then I break up the clumps of ice inside of it. If I can not fit the ice into the bag, then I use the hammer on the ice in the plastic container. The hammer has no problem breaking up the ice enough for me to use it. I am happy with this unit!

Donald V Buckner: The Lewis bag and mallet are great, it's quick and easy to get crushed ice whenever we want, I would recommend this product with the advise of know where your finger are at all times, you don't wany to hit something squishy with the mallet.

Michelle Mustion: This was a great purchase. I'm a Prime member so the bag and hammer came in time for the planned entertaining. The bag and hammer are both good quality and grade. I like that there is an angle to the hammer which helps me portion the ice between glasses. The only thing a wee bit annoying is that the drawstring closure slightly freezes when you try and open it you may struggle for all of five seconds but it's so minimal I don't regret purchasing. The maintenance instructions come in the box. The wood is really nice quality so it's good that they give pointers on keeping it in good order. Finally, the bag is a good size for my mini ice cube tray to fit and dump. Which is highly convenient. However, a standard size will not fit completely. It doesn't matter too much, but if you're planning to do heavy entertaining, I would suggest getting an ice bucket for your prep. I've used this once for 4 people and had just enough ice for the toast, which was the point. But normally, I use it for two people for weekend evening margs on the rocks. The bag holds enough ice, comfortably, for that amount. The bag handles the hammering well. No leaks.
