It's been running for 3 weeks 24/7 and no issues to report. The barrel is a softish ABS material, a little stiff but manageable. Out of the package, be sure to oil motor and bearings, check that the belt is on the pulleys and tensioned properly (not too tight, not too loose). I put it in the garage and can barely hear it outside. It didn't come with extra belts so I ordered some separately

ODBJr.13: Not bad at all. Large drum fits everything I've thrown at it with ease. It came with a bag of pumice type rocks that worked perfectly for both metal and rocks I've run through so far. I definitely recommend it for novices like me. 👍

J. P.: It's a nice tumbler but the belt breaks every few weeks.

steve elhart: Nice value - works good. Extra belts for use. Nice to have. Other model we have does not need to change belts. Hmm.

Wei Hwu: I bought this product to work harden jewelry projects. While it does a good job polishing metal, my items are not work hardened (even when I use steel shot, minimal water, and tumble overnight).
The shape of the barrel is round so it's less effective at work hardening than barrels that have octagonal shapes for more "crashing" to harden the metal.
The engine is pretty loud so I run it inside my storage unit.
I despise the lid, it's incredibly difficult to get on and off... Makes it unnecessarily hard to check on projects, however it doesn't leak so that's a plus.
Budget tumbler but I would say you get what you pay for (it's not effective for what I need and difficult to use because of the lid). My recommendation is to skip this and upgrade to something better quality.

alexandraalexandra: I've had this tumbler now for a month and it's been running pretty much the entire time. As a whole, it's just fine. Isn't obscenely loud, straight forward and all that jazz.
My only complaint is that there is going to come a day where one end or the other is going to be worn down on the barrel.
It's sort of a balancing act trying to keep the barrel in the middle. If it drifts too far one way, then it begins to get real hot while rubbing rubber off of the bottom of the barrel. The other option is to wedge things under it so that you just wear the stopper out. There is literally no way to keep it centered. I'm now at a point where it's looking like the stopper has worn to a point where metal is flaking off of the top of the barrel.
So, for the price, it's fine... but it's the little things that are going to go and that will be a sad day.

GatorDude: With this purchase, I now have six different manufacturers' tumblers - So I have plenty to compare this device with...
I have found two kinds of hobby-grade tumblers out there... those "hogs" powered by A/C directly from wall outlet and those that run with a D/C motor and use a step-down transformer, thereby using negligible current. This unit draws a lot of current. Consequently, after running for four hours, the metal casing is warm to the touch (not hot, but I think WAY too warm...)
They do incorporate a heat sink - they had to, but it is ineffective.
It makes me worry that unit will get hotter with longer tumbling cycles.
So, since I have no desire to sit for days at a time watching it tumble to make sure nothing catches on fire - for my initial test run, I have decided to run it for four hours, then let it rest and cool down for an hour, then run for another 4 hours until it heats up again.
This is ridiculous - no customer should worry that a rock tumbler can get so hot that they have to think about it!
You are supposed to turn them on and just let 'em run continuously for days at a time - like my NG hobby tumbler has been doing for more than 3...
