Mrs. Ruth E. Bradshaw-Mullin: Looked like a great book. It even tells you what things should look and taste like when they’re cooked. It’s in cups/ US measurements though so would be very confusing for a novice UK cook. Sadly returned.

LDR: I liked the way the cookbook starts from the most basic of steps. I gave it to the husband of a friend who has never cooked so much as a boiled egg and he actually started with the banana bread recipe. He was delighted when it turned out.

Robyn Gardner: I purchased this book for my grandson, who loves to cook with me. He lives out of state, so in order to encourage his culinary skills, I decided to send this book to him. When it arrived, I was pleased with how he can not only develop his talent, but expand his knowledge of cooking skills. Each chapter talks about a cooking term, say braise, and gives a couple of recipes that use that technique. Then the final chapter uses combinations of all the terms that have been discussed in previous chapters. I can't wait to have him cook for me again. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars, is because I don't know how my grandson has felt about the book after starting to use it.
