Dave H: I should have researched the book better. I count on tabs to play and use notation for timing. This book doesn’t provide tabs so I’ll have to put it away until I learn notation.

Io l'ho comprato su consiglio del maestro a mia figlia al secondo anno di chitarra. Non c'è un cd ma file audio da scaricare dal sito ufficiale attraverso un codice personale.

DJ0715: This book is laid out very well. Relatively easy for a beginning guitarist to follow along with. If you can read music and are struggling with chords you can pick the melody notes until you are able to put the chords together. The songs will sound good even just picking the notes.
Each song has both the melody notes and the chord progressions, it does not have strum patterns for the songs.

Daniel Schorr: Good selection of songs from Hal Leonard. The typical songs found in guitar instruction books are usually lousy due to copyright issues (They tend to use songs in the public domain. Hal Leonard owns the copyrights here, hence good tunes).
The book is graded in order of difficulty - whole notes mixed with quarters to start, then it introduces the key of one shard, then eighth notes. Beatles tunes, Bob Marley - the song selection is great and the chords are mostly accurate. Judging by the interest of my students, "Nowhere Man" is the standout song.

You should note, however, that the songs in this edition are not the same as in previous editions -
If you purchase a used book, it may contain 3 or 4 different songs that were replaced by the ones in this volume. For better or worse, depending on your taste. Personally, I could do without "Hey There Delilah" but the Green Day is a nice addition. Finally, this edition corrects the horrible note mistakes that plagued the original version of "Imagine". Earlier editions had completely wrong notes, and good on them for recognizing and fixing this.

john fletcher: Ideal for beginners to learn the basic melodies of some famous songs / tunes although all of the song /tune appears to be shown. Beware the songs / tunes are shown in notation and there are NO tabs shown. but worth having, usual Amazon excellence in speed and packaging.
