MR ANDY ZEVENHUIZEN: We bought this unit only because our existing transmitter failed and the cost (on Amazon) of the transmitter alone was thrice the cost of this unit plus identical transmitter. That aside, the display background is so dark that you cannot read the display from anything less than a few feet away. It is akin to those old LCD televisions that had to be viewed straight on because when viewed at an angle they became very dim.

Sadie: Just what I needed. Didn’t need all the bells and whistles. Just wanted to know inside and outside temperature. Perfect. Numbers are large to read from a distance which makes it even better.

tubber D: OK, we don't use this as intended. I put the outdoor readier in my pop up camper refrigerator, and the main reader on the counter. It is a big help to know if the frig is working correctly, and at the right temperature. My husband thought it was a waste to purchase for this use, but soon became a devoted fan. We could dial our frig temp to the correct setting which can change due to the heat or coolness of the day. If you ever camped with a pop up or any camper you know how fickle the refrigerators can be.

It's also nice to know temperature in the camper, since we camp mainly in northern Minnesota.

Cheryl Holmes: Contrary to what one would expect of an indoor-outdoor thermometer, the outdoor sensor is NOT weather proof. To make it weather proof one must buy a special cover that is almost $20 CDN, and you'll only learn about that when you read the last page of the small manual that comes with the unit. The product description on the page at Amazon even features a misleading image of the sensor attached to an outside deck post.

Amazon Customer: i found it here, better than what i could fine in the stores, i've got the out door section one in white (between my window panes ( if you're worried about it getting wet, from the rain, remove it, then put it back, common sense.. i like it, never ever had a problem with it,
would i recommend it ~ Absolutely ~ i have even used rechargable batteries too.

DaveNBTexas: I have several LaCrosse three channel Temperature displays but they are no longer making the remote sensors to go with the displays. This single remote display was a quick solution to my bedside indoor/outdoor readings. It works well but I had to get used to having the remote sensor reading on top whereas the three sensor unit displayed below the indoor reading. Without a backlight, it is difficult to read first thing in the morning and the upper temperature display is very close to the top of the housing making it a little difficult to determine if it is 67 or 61 degrees. I will try the new three sensor unit and may move this to the living room where it will have better lighting and better viewing angles.
