John, Texas: This Klein tool really makes it easy to find the correct breaker to trip in your breaker panel.
This is easier than having 2 people try to do the job:)
In some cases if you have slim breakers like I do you may get a reading for 2 breakers side by side.
That's not a problem for me, it's easy enough to figure out which one you need to trip.
I like the Klein enough that I've bought a set for my son and one for a friend.
I would buy again, I would recommend.

Keith Granholm: Works ok, takes some practice to get accurate results.

Dave Wilson: I find that I can use this and it gives me different signal indicators when I go past the proper circuit but it does narrow things down somewhat and is helping that way.

RedReiter: It appears that the transmitter portion, will only transmit on a Live circuit.
If the circuit is dead, it does not work.
-
This really limits its usefulness, to identify the source breaker, on Live circuits only.
-
It does identify the breaker for the circuit, very well... if this is all you want

Barry Scheps: I purchased this as a pre-owned item here on Amazon...and shortly discovered the probable reason it had been returned.
It comes with instructions, consisely written in four languages (English; Spanish; French & Portuguese) .... Plug the small signal-transmitter into the LIVE outlet-of-question (or, connect to a live bulb socket or bare wire-ends using optional accessory(s).
Then bring the long RECEIVER unit to your circuit-breaker/fuse panel and slowly scan all breakers TWO times (ignoring any superfluous signals emitted during the first scan). As per directions, during the SECOND scan, the receiver should then only 'beep'/illuminate it's green arrow a single time...over the one powering the outlet (or wires) to which the transmitter is connected.
HOWEVER, with my house's wiring, RECEIVER BEEPS/BLINKS AT THREE DIFFERENT BREAKERS...EVEN during the second, 'Learning-Process' scan-through, slowly passing over each one.
Thus, my unit does not pinpoint the precise breaker but, instead, narrows the choices down to three.
TIPS--For those whose 'Klein Digital Circuit Breaker Finder' (or any other brand of similar instrument, for that matter) behaves in this...

Adam: It's a great tool for anyone; you can easily know which outlets correspond to what breaker switch. The issue I would say is that the on/off button is a button and not a switch. This can easily be turned on while in your toolbox. The battery will eventually die. A better design would be a physical switch that must be pushed up/down that locks into place instead of an easy-to-press button.
The second issue is that there is only one button that does the reset and the on/off. Would be better to have the on/off as one switch, and the reset as a separate button.
I would also suggest the ability to clip-on the socket component to the receiver. These two can get seperated in the toolbox and it would be nice if they could be connected by clip-on/magnet/etc.
It's nice how the instructions are on the physical device so no matter who uses it will know how to use it. However, it's so easy you really wouldn't even need instructions.

B. Colonna: This tool is awesome. When I first moved into my house, I mapped out all the circuits. Years later, I had a major renovation and the contractor and electrician did a lousy job of not labeling anything on the circuit boxes.
This tool takes care of that. I know a lot of people review these types of tracers and say they don't work. If you follow the directions carefully, this one works well.
1. Plug in the transmitter to the outlet in question. The circuit must have power. the Transmitter has a red light when connected.
2. Go to your circuit panel and turn on the Receiver. The breakers must be on.
3. Slowly scan each breaker in the box. Ignore any beeps or lights of now.
4. Hold power button on Receiver for a few seconds to shut it off.
5. Power receiver back on.
6. Scan the box again slowly, breaker by breaker.
* I don't know that you HAVE to do Step 4/5. I found mine worked more accurately that way, but I also do have a main panel and a sub panel I was scanning so I wanted to boot the device cleanly after each use.
NOTE: You should be holding the Receiver with one of the red arrows on the front (on each side of the word "Up") pointed up. You...
