Carole Wooten: I really enjoyed this installment in the series! I know that I am really late to the party with this series but I am having fun with it. I really don't know why I have been waiting so long to start the next book after finishing one. I have grown to really like the characters and was quickly hooked by this story once I started listening. I had a really good time with the series.

Rachel is asked to help with an investigation involving murdered werewolves. As she starts to piece things together, she finds that what is actually happening is even scarier than she could have imagined. To make matters worse, Trent is getting married and wants Rachel to work as security, but as part of the wedding party. There also seems to be a bit of a demon problem and Rachel's roommate appears to be mad at her. Rachel has her work cut out for her in this book.

This book was really exciting. There were a lot of things going on but it never felt like too much. I really wanted to see things go well in Rachel's personal life and I was totally invested in figuring out what was going on with the mystery. There were some really high points in the story but there were a few others that were...

Chelssik: Not my favourite in the series but still a solid book. Some of the slower paced plot points from the beginning of the series are finally starting to see some progress. I’m nervous to see what could possibly happen next after the ending of this book but I’m also excited!

I found the major plot in this book only really saw any progress during the second half of the novel. I’m not sure how I was kept entertained during the first half but somehow I was. I also could have used a little more action. There was a lot of investigating in this one and not enough ass kicking for my liking.

We’re starting to see some progress in Rachel’s character and I’m looking forward to seeing how else she progresses!

Kurt Keller: First things first. This is the fifth book in a series and I highly recommend to start with the first one and read them in order.

A serial killer is at work in the Hollows, trying to make the killings look like suicides. And somehow the I.S. seems to be covering up those killings, while the FIB wants to solve them, enlisting some help from Rachel. But it would not be Rachel, the adrenaline junkie, if she didn't get into way more trouble than this warrants for, crossing demons and master vampires and were alphas along the way and doing one or the other unbelievable thing.

As always in this series, very good reading, although, at the very end, things get a bit out of hand and happen a bit fast. The buildup to get there is very enjoyable, though.

Review
Two thirds or so in the book I thought: well, this is it. I'm done. Nothing is going to change, Rachel is still agonizing over Ivy and vice versa, and does stuff solely for the sake of the thrill. No planning, no backup, no thinking of consequences. No, worse: whenever Rachel brings incredible danger over herself and others, she shrugs it off saying stuff like "well, this is how I am, I need danger, so what!?". That attitude combined with her ever growing stupidity in handling stuff (and sc*****ing up) made me so angry at her, I nearly choked in my anger. And I have to admit that I was relieved that finally finally, payback time had come. And she pays dearly. I know, this is not how it's supposed to be, the reader getting eager for the main character to have to pay the piper (I'd be devasted if that happened to Kate Daniels, Mercy Thompson, October Daye or the likes!). But Rachel had grown so unsalvagable stupid in every little thing she did or didn't do, I had to either see her grow up and fast or...

NiceCat: Da ich mehrere "The Hollows" gekauft habe

Sheryl Rentschler, author: Let me be up front: I. Love. This. Book. Everything about this series and Rachel Morgan is terrific. The Hollow series expands with every installment (this is the 5th) and we get to delve deeper into our main character, Rachel, along with her living vampire roomie/partner Ivy and their aged pixie partner Jenks (he's 18 and that's senior citizen for a pixie). The three of them get royally beat up in this installment, but we also find a new depth of character in each othem too. Not to mention that Rachel's prowess as a witch has gone way beyond her training and imagining - she's frickin' awesome. As a ley line witch, she's also discovered she's a demon caster too. Wait, maybe we should say that in whispers or the myriad of demons wishing to eat her/kill her/play with her might find us. Hmmm...

This book is a blast. It also broke my heart. First among the stories where I actually got a tear to my eye. Thank you, Ms. Harrison.

Now, I realize I'm way behind on my reading. Believe me I'm chomping at the bit to get on with book 6 (and I have them all including book 9), so I'm telling you right now, if you haven't read this, GET THEM. Do it Now. Read! Fabulously rich,...

Jennifer @ Bad Bird Reads: Summary
Despite dating one vampire and living with another, Rachel Morgan has always managed to stay just ahead of trouble . . . until now.

A fiendish serial killer stalks the Hollows, claiming victims across society, and the resulting terror ignites a vicious Inderland gang war. And while the ancient artifact Rachel is hiding may be the key to stopping the murderer, revealing it could also create a battle to the death among the numerous supernatural races that live in and around Cincinnati.

For every action has its price, and when the vampire master Piscary is set free and the demonic Algaliarept dares to walk openly under the sun, even Rachel Morgan can't hide forever.

The Good
Rachel is not having a good day. She wakes up to find a demon in her kitchen, which should be impossible since demons can't enter sanctified churches (Rachel lives in a church). Werewolves are being murdered and it might have something to do with the Focus, a demon artifact, which Rachel happens to be hiding away from the many things after it. Oh, and pretty much everyone is out to get Rachel for some reason. Yup, just another day in the life of.

This book starts off very...

Thumbs up! Ich freue mich schon auf weitere Bände!
