this game stinks: When I read the summaries I expected your run-of-the mill horror story, but that was not the case. Jeremy Bates gave the monsters a story. Very ingenious take on the catacombs. DO NOT READ IF CLAUSTROPHOBIC!

Ned Montgomery: This book ruined my night! I normally read to help me go to sleep, but I couldn’t put this down and ended up staying up waaaayyy later than I should have a few nights in a row reading. Each chapter ended with a perfect cliff hanger and just transitioned beautifully into the next. Will read again!

Chris: Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down! It finished it in less than 3 days. The story keep getting better right to the last page. Even the end, I was still waiting for another twist to happen. All I can say is If you don’t read, you are missing a masterpiece. Great book from start to finish

A. Cook: After reading 2 of his books in the series I think I might be hooked on them. I really enjoyed the way he presented the story from the different perspectives of each character. It helped move the story along and made it more interesting to know what the characters were thinking. Can’t wait to start the next one.

Jose Orquiz: This book started off real slow but built up nicely. I wasn’t expecting what they found in the catacombs. It kept my interest and I finished it in 2 days. 4/5 read for me! Love me some Jeremy Bates

Avedios: Fantastic read, a real page turner, the detail took me there as if in real life. The kinky bits really excite.

Meghan Douglass: I loved his book Suicide Forest but this one didn’t do it for me. I found the characters underdeveloped and annoying. The story line didn’t flow all that well and I found myself struggling to finish. I was disappointed but will still read more from this author.

Amazon Customer: Good pace, and we'll written, although a bit predictable in places. A few of the characters could have used a bit more development. If you don't want major spoilers, don't read the prologue. It adds nothing to the story and gives away part of the story line with nothing in return. Overall, worth the read.

This is the first I have read anything by this author, and I look forward to reading more!

Stephen Clynes: The Catacombs are a network of tunnels beneath Paris which are said to extend more than 300 kilometers (186 miles) and reach depths of 30 meters (100), too deep for phone coverage. Follow 4 characters who go on an underground adventure to explore hidden treasures etc in this hidden world beneath the streets of Paris.

I thought this thriller from Jeremy Bates was okay. The structure of this novel is similar to his previous book, the Suicide Forest and offers the same huge vocabulary that helps make this story such an adult read. Jeremy manages to capture the atmosphere of the catacombs very well indeed when he writes…

I tried to imagine what it would be like to walk alone in utter blackness, with only your hand on the wall to guide you, your mouth dry from dehydration, your throat and lungs burning from the rank air and the countless hours of screaming for help, your feet weeping with blisters, your legs jellied with exhaustion, nothing around you but tunnels and more tunnels, ad infinitum.

Yes, it is clearly very scary being lost in complete darkness within 300 km of tunnels below Paris knowing that nobody can hear you scream. I felt Jeremy explained these...

Ronald N D: This is the kind of story that can mess with your mind. Most people have heard of the Paris catacombs, and a large number visit when there. They go on for miles in every direction, and you don't ever want to go exploring off on your own. People still die down there. Apparently there really are galleries way off the beaten tourist trails that are full of graffiti with evidence of having been lived in; but by just who - nobody now knows. And so the story goes and grows. This book is a recap of a very scary scenario wherein you get to meet just such a group, most of whom aren't particularly nice. Part of the thriller aura here, of course, is being in a never ending underground maze with limited resources and being hunted. At the end of the day, I found the book gave me some really creepy feelings. Its easy to get caught up in a book, and that's what can happen here. Certainly a well done take on a story line that could just come true.. Just for the record, I've been to Paris three times before, and have never gotten up the nerve to visit the catacombs. Enjoy.
