gary w.: I followed the instructions sent with the remote but my truck would not go into program mode. So I went on line and viewed two other ways to program the remote. Tried them both with no luck. Same problem, truck wouldn’t go into program mode. I’ve misplaced the receipt or I would call the seller for help. I had two remotes fo the truck but one quit. I’ve tried the second one and it works perfectly. I’m not returning the remote because I can’t honestly say it is inoperative when my truck won’t go into program mode. I’ll check the batteries but I’m sure their good. If all else fails I’ll contact the Ford dealer to see if he will tell me how to program it or make me bring it in. I’ll try to let you know the outcome.

D. Young: Title says it all. This remote is terrible. There are so few options for my truck and this one had the best reviews. I have a 1997 Ford Expedition and this is the only type of remote that will work (4 button wont). I have ordered three of these. The plastic is so cheap that the keyring breaks off, so you have to super glue it. If on a keyring, they always pop open and spill the batteries and little battery connectors, so you have to find them. The buttons are very mushy and work inconsistently. The range is terrible overall as well. Sometimes I can unlock (and see my running boards light up) over 20 feet away, but most of the time it won't work 2 inches from the driver door window. The lock button works intermittently at best, most times I have to hit it 7-10 times before I even hear the locks cycle and another 3-4 times after to make sure the alarm is set (horn chirps). It is easy to install, but that is only because of Ford's end, not the remotes end. I found a remote down in Texas (new old stock) at a dealer, paid $87 for it and another $15 for shipping, got it in a week, been using it since with 0 issues... Honestly rather pay more for a used/damaged one on eBay, to get an OEM...
