Razor: cant find a place to cut the keys as most will not cut a chipped key that they don't sell you. make some calls to find out if you can get them cut in your area before purchasing.

Jim K.: 7/8/21 update - replacement order arrived and those couldn't be programmed either initially by locksmith. Locksmith then used his programming tool to erase all active keyfobs associated to the car and the additional keyfobs as well as the original keyfob were all able to be programmed. Changed my overall rating from 4 to 5 stars as nothing was wrong with original keyfob.

7/1/21 Original review - I only needed 1 key and keyfob but since these came in a set of 2 each for similar cost I bought them. Ace hardware cut both keys for 1 dollar each and programmed easy by myself. I had to go to Batteries Plus to get kebfob programmed. One programmed with no problem for $40 but the second one couldn't be programmed. Person tried 2 different programming machines and verified battery was good. Keeping the bad new one for spare parts incase I ever need to replace battery or outer shell.

Chuck R: If they last this is a good value however, I had my keys cut and spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out why I could not get them to program. 06 Pontiac G6. Immediately after programming they appeared to work but after removing and reinserting they didn't. I finally decided to go to my local store where I had them cut to have the transponders tested. If you are not familiar, the keys have a chip inside that is powered up by a signal from your ignition, the key will then send a signal at a certain frequency. Places that cut keys may have a test device that powers up the key to see if it will respond. Their purpose is so they can tell their customer if they can make them a key or not because they may not do transponder keys. Neither of the 2 keys would respond to their tester but my original key did. Both of the keys were marked with the circle plus marking. It was a hassle but the company ended up refunding 8 dollars since the keys didn't work, I think they thought I was an idiot. I cut the keys open and they do have chips in them, apparently there was a bad batch. I noticed others commented that they had trouble too. Find a store with a transponder tester and test...
