I love being able to control my plugs through voice control, and through my devices! it’s super convenient and I love being able to do it without lifting a finger! If you are looking to transform your home with slightly upgraded technology- These plugs are for you! I have to do is download the Kasa app and follow their instructions in it’s super user-friendly! I’ve had my first set of smart plugs for years, and I’ve never had any issues with them! I have my AC, my fan, my lights etc all hooked up to Smart plugs! All I have to do is say Alexa turn off the AC and it turns off! 100/10 highly recommend!

J. S.: These were my first devices purchased for use on Apple’s HomeKit network. The instructions in the box were all but worthless but I did what everyone else does nowadays and searched for a YouTube video. Yep, after the video I had them recognized and switching off my lights. My criteria for these devices were first that it had HomeKit compatibility and secondly that they were tested and accepted by Underwriters Laboratory - the UL stamp on the box. UL acceptance means they underwent a very rigorous testing program and you don’t need to worry that they might short out someday and cause a fire. That is important.

My gripe with them was that I had to turn off the 5G band, leaving only the 2.5 GHz band working, to get my Eero mesh Wi-Fi to “see” them. Once they were recognized, and visible on the HomeKit app,I was able to turn the 5G band back on and they continued to work. This may be a unique issue with the Eero mesh system and not applicable with other Wi-Fi routers.

Mr. Nobody: I used it for Home Assistant, and it can be added without the use of Kasa app, which is great.

I measured the power consumption of the plug itself using a metre, and in standby mode (without any downstream electronics plugged), the metre is showing 1.6W.

This is not too bad, compared to most zigbee plugs probably in the <1W range.

In Canada, 1 watt for 24/7 all year round translates to about $1 of electricity cost.

Jeff: Decent price for a 4 pack of smart plugs. My original intent for these smart plugs was to connect to a smart home power monitoring system. Unfortunately, these are not compatible and do not transmit the power usage data for the device plugged into them. So I now use them to control lights in various places throughout the home. I cannot comment on Alexa integration as I use them with Google Home. They work perfectly. After setting up with my home network through the Kasa app, I added them to my Google home setup. I can turn on/off lights plugged into them with voice command.

Regarding the design, I like that they're fairly compact compared to other similar devices, they have a manual on off button on the right side and they also have a blue LED in one corner that indicates their WiFi connectivity when setting up. The LED also turns on to indicate when plug is live. When the plug is off, the LED is also off, which I appreciate.

Overall very good quality unit and easy to setup and use regardless of the single issue I mentioned above.

Dan Wong: Great idea, good price, but some flaws when using it with google home.

These smart plugs are very convenient and are quite seamlessly integrated with google smart home. You can control via the home app or by voice, and you almost never have to use the KASA app after you do the initial install.

We've used them for turning on/off lights on a daily schedule. Things with little draw are perfect for use on these rated plugs. I believe they can do 10amp?

If you're controlling something like LED bulbs or a watering system, or a fan, then you're good! I wouldn't recommend running a heater, or a heavier duty pump on such a device.

Here's my main grip:

I installed my stick vacuum's hanging dock/charging station with one of these smart plugs attached so i could manage when it starts a charge cycle. Let me explain: dyson vacuums have a power boost setting that discharges the battery very quickly and heats up the motor/battery assembly while using this setting. It's not recommended that you put the vacuum on charge directly after using is on boost- it's suggested that you wait 5-10 minutes for it to cool down before charging it.
