I do use a little WD-40 on the gears after they've gone through the dishwasher a couple times. That's just to keep them running smoothly. I use the large one several times a day to portion out home-made dog food. That stuff is thick and heavy refrigerated oatmeal, meat and vegetables. I was using a stainless steel half-cup measuring cup, but the handle kept bending because the vat of dog food is so dense and heavy. Plus, I was using a spatula or my finger to help scoop it out of the measuring cup. The trigger release is really nice in this respect. It also works great on frozen ice cream, too. I have always put the cartons in the microwave for about 10 seconds to soften the ice cream first, but thats just habit. The smaller ones are great for measuring cookie dough and especially cake pops if you're into that sort of thing.

Amazon Customer: Cheap, garbage. Return. Will not buy again.

Amazon Customer: Higher expectations based on pictures that looked like "baker quality" scoops. Not the case when they arrived. Says, 18 stainless steel (not thinking so) feels thin & tinny. Let's hope they last, not baker quality that is for sure.

Dani BananiDani Banani: I've only used the medium and small sized cookie scoops so far, but they really are just perfect for portioning just the right amount of dough for the cookies I make. The handles are really comfortable in my hand and that's saying a lot because I have smaller hands and a lot of the other scoops I've tried are just cumbersome. I also have RA so the "ease of the squeeze" is also very important to me. I didn't experience any issues with the dough or scoop sticking or the scoops not expelling all of the dough. I've used them several times now and they've held up nicely. I recently made 6 dozen cookies and I was able to get them done quickly, efficiently and without causing a great deal of pain to my hands. I personally choose to hand wash them, although it says they're dishwasher safe, and they're quick and easy to clean especially if you have a bottle brush. I think these are great kitchen tools and would consider giving the set as part of a baking themed gift.

Catherine Flom: It was a little tough at first, but after you used it a few times it loosened up. It it kind of like when you get out of the morning and you are stiff but then you move around and you feel better. Overall loved this though!

Kate Pugh:
Set-up. For over 45 years I've done things the old-fashioned way - by hand. I'd gotten really good and fairly fast at portioning out raw cookie dough evenly and accurately for baking ... my grandmother showed me how. At Christmas time, she baked cookies to distribute to the police and fire departments. She would start baking two weeks early to get them all done. By the age of 7 or so, I would help her after school, baking dozens of cookies. After she turned sixty-ish, she retired. I took over. I had one of those shooters for soft sugar cookies and a press, but most were done by hand. We moved south in '91 and I introduced our family tradition to the area/city's police & fire departments. They were hesitant the first year, then pleasantly surprised. I perfected & adapted recipes, taking comments and requests from all of them. Note: I haven't gotten a traffic ticket of any sort in YEARS! They know us and our vehicles by sight. One summer, I met one of our patrolmen at a local mall. He greeted me by name, gave me his address & requested a particular flavor recipe for his wife to try. I sent a copy to him. We are on a regular recipe swap.

nicknack: I was pleased to find a set of 3 scoops as I use them for baking cookies and needed different sizes. Unfortunately one of the scoops has already broken so I’m a little disappointed. The other 2 are still going strong and are the perfect size for what I need. They are a little fiddly to clean but overall, a good addition to the kitchen.

First time using the large scoop it started to stick and not retract: Used it for scooping cookie dough and the sliding part inside the scoop sticks. Had to keep manually spreading the handle apart
