Joel - SF: What is most important to you? What is your life about? What kind of a life do you really (desperately) want to live?
John Ortberg reminds us what's most important: living with Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit & leaving outcomes to the Lord.
You'll laugh because my friend John is funny. And sometimes you will cry because this book pulls no punches. Abraham & Sarah suffered; the Apostle & his friends suffered; even Jesus suffered.
Pastor John Ortberg suggests ways to endure suffering, ways to keep going when it may not feel like it will ever be worth it again. Persevere...keep the Faith. Never give up!

John: John Ortberg is a stimulating writer - challenging, inspiring, informing and growing the reader (if they're open to it). This book is no exception and I have found it helpful in my life journey at this present time and is a book I will no doubt go back to in the future as well. He is a man who has the "T Shirt" and describes clearly what goes on inside a person's inner life - his heart is on his sleeve - and I admire and respect him for that. He doesn't speak from theory but from experience of life that is clearly rooted in an authentic and clear faith in the Lord and he is prepared to be honest so that others can avoid wrong challenges they don't need to face. You will not be disappointed with this book!

Valeu a pena a aquisição. O que é bom costumo repetir: ouço com frequência o audiobook.

Phillip A. Towndrow: Introduction
In his letter to the church in Colossae, the apostle Paul outlines the objectives of his Church ministry in celebratory yet nonetheless sacrificial terms. He writes: 'He [Jesus] is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me' (Colossians 1:28-29 NIV). Paul's labour and cautionary tone challenge us today. Do we, as professed Christians (followers of Christ) strive for maturity (in Greek, teleios which means fully grown or having reached a goal or end) in Christ using all the strength God provides? Or are we merely rambling, perhaps disappointingly, along a path that hinders spiritual progress? I think most of us would wish--optimistically--for growth. But what if our discipleship journey is devastatingly distorted and off track?
Senior Pastor John Ortberg's, The life you've always wanted: Spiritual disciplines for ordinary people [expanded edition] describes, illustrates and explains Christian discipleship in contemporary, total-life encompassing terms. This is a crucial, urgent issue...

Jessymoka: Let me start off by saying that I don't know how anything I say could do justice to what this book has done for me.
Also though this book was nothing short of awesome for me, I believe it was because God allowed for it to be and used this book to speak to me in many ways.
This book feels like someone read my mind, and put it in a book... either my thoughts or issues that I ponder.
The study guide that is INCLUDED in the back of the book was SO thought provoking. I know this sounds weird but these were Tuff questions (good tuff) and they required me to #1 dig deep into the scripture discussion, and #2 dig deep into myself.
This book and it's included study guide have been an emotional self discovery.
Every time I read it, and answer questions I find myself looking up and saying, "WOW God, Thank you!!!"
Ortberg talks about some pretty deep issues just within the first two chapters... Our disappointment in ourselves, the way we measure our spiritual fitness, the way we live and try to measure others by.
I would hope that if you pick up this book... and I would HIGHLY recommend it. That the Lord allows for it to speak to you the way...
