Quidzark: Like all outside the tank thermometers, this one gives the temp of the glass, not the water. After several weeks of comparisons w/ another digital thermometer inserted into the tank, I've found the water is about .5 degrees warmer than the reading from the glass. I'd rate that as an accurate reading.
It's a little larger & not quite as unobtrusive as I'd anticipated (due to my bad visual conception skills, not the company - their description is accurate), so I mounted mine on the side of the tank. Even there, my 60+ year old eyes can easily read the large numbers displayed. As that was one of the main reasons I made this purchase, I rate it 5 stars.
I also rate JJMG 5 stars for their EXCEPTIONAL customer service. There was a problem w/ the unit I received; they promptly & courteously resolved it.

N. BarnesN. Barnes: This thermometer is elegant and easy to read. I assigned only 4 stars to it because I feel the company could have put a few sentences of instructions with this item. Instead there is a one sentence instruction on the box. Not that it's difficult, but I had to assume how to open the thermometer in order to install the small battery that I found in the box.
Other than the above, this item is good looking, relatively accurate, and easy to read.

Amazon Customer: Nice, sticks on the outside of tank glass. Works just fine. Can plainly and easily read the temperature.
