Chilly: It’s a bit predictable at times but you really feel for Dawn and all the people she meets. Lovely, easy to read book - great one for holidays.

A: Dawn's perpetual plans for helping others are unbelievable for someone who is in such need herself. She is the planner.

Natasha Alsop: I bought this as a bit of an impulse buy when it was a 99p daily deal, expecting it to be a little bit of chick lit - which I was wrong about.
I have my own experiences with mental health and both being a client and volunteering for a housing association for vulnerable people. To me, this novel handles these subjects both light-heartedly and in a sensitive manner, and I think it truly humanises those people which society seems to leave behind as statistics - people who are homeless, people with mental health problems, people who have issues with drugs and alcohol - and paints them as real people.
The plot itself drew me in. The characters are beautifully drawn, and you will care for them and want to see that they have happy endings and get the best out of their lives.
Really well written and I look forward to reading more of the author's work. :)

M Richardson: Dawn Brightside is a middle aged homeless woman with a big heart. When she manages to get a room in the St Jude's homeless shelter, Dawn is still worrying about all the people she has left behind on the cold streets of Dover. But Dawn's hopeful attitude is soon pushed to the limit when the shelter is threatened with imminent closure.
Jess has created a most wonderful character in Dawn Brightside. The book has a fantastic sense of charm and realism, and the characters could be the many people we know from our own everyday life.
When you find yourself laughing out loud and then crying in the same chapter, you know something is special, and this book does these things throughout its pages.
I'm excited to share Dawn with others, and looking forward to see what Jess writes next.
If you are a male or female reader struggling at the moment to find suitable pick-me-up, I prescribe to you The Extraordinary Hope of Dawn Brightside. It's a great tonic!

Mrs Badger: I bought this book on kindle ages ago and have just read it. I must have wasted hours reading rubbish stories when I could have read this one instead. It is a fabulous read and so positive. It was thought provoking and uplifting. I hope Jessica Ryn keeps writing as she has a real gift.
