Etobicoke Book Clubbette: This book was recommended to me by a friend who had leukemia. It is a life affirming tale, that pushes through the usual platitudes surrounding the terminally ill and instead focuses on the joyous moments of living, the foolishness of norms set by people who want boundaries, and the honesty of real human interaction.

Cangibbs: This book is unlike any I’ve read, sweet and funny, sad and tragic, all combined to paint the most beautiful picture of a short life well lived. Do yourself a favor and read it!

Karen K Miller: This is one of the best books that I have ever read and I read a lot! The whole premise is extraordinary. Margot and Lennie will stay with me for a long, long time. I will recommend this book to everyone of my reader friends.

Suewho: I loved this book so much . Lennie and Margot bonded despite the age difference and you really felt that was a real thing. When I finished this book I didn’t want to read anything else for a while because it felt like I would have just been moving in and I needed to grieve for it . Sounds stupid I know , but it was one of the few books I’ve read recently that will stay with me. I know it took 6 years to write and I can understand why because it was perfect, but I hope the next book you write doesn’t take so long! All I can say is thank you. Would love to know what happened to Father Arthur 😊

BarbarinaS: I would give this six stars simply because of the ending and the amount of emotion it draws from the reader but it also has so much to offer.
It is well written and it has a fascinating plot, one which is intriguing and fresh, and original despite the subject. Connecting with the characters is easy. This last one is a surprise. Sickness and death are painful enough without the reader having a good idea where this will end and wondering whether another book might be a better prospect. It’s not. This is a journey worth taking. It gives hope to living our best life no matter the circumstances, no matter how brief and it pushes so many fears to the side.
A beautiful read.

Kristin Guthrie: This book is about life, love, loss, and most importantly friendship. What I liked about this book is that it really makes you realize that every second of life is precious. I know that this book is supposed to be about the friendship between Lenni and Margot, but those two just didn’t resonate with me. In the middle of a chapter, we read about Margot’s years within other chapters (most of the time), and the points of view change from Lenni to Margot. The relationship that I enjoyed the most was that between Lenni and Father Arthur, the priest in the hospital. She questioned religion and he didn’t bat an eye. He even admits that he doesn’t have all the answers. It almost felt like a father daughter relationship at times. I felt more of a connection there because it seemed that we really saw Lenni’s personality shine through. I did cry towards the end, but not as much as I thought I was going to cry, and didn’t love the book as much as I was told that I would! However, I think the message is a good one. I would recommend this book because a lot of people seemed to love it. Once again, I am the outlier!

Fred G.: This novel is quirky, poignant, illuminating, and funny. When death hovers throughout a work, that is quite an accomplishment: there is sadness, but the novel is never cloying and seldom morose. I love Lennie, Margot, Arthur, New Nurse, Pippa, and Humphrey; I feel ambivalent about Meena. The characters and their conflicts seem quite real, and the structure of the novel works. The one hundred-year idea works well as a vehicle for the unfolding of life events, for the bonding of the characters, and for the posing of questions - for framing Lennie’s and Margot’s journeys and for providing glimpses of other characters’ development and changes too. I enjoyed the book and hated to part company with Lennie and Margot at the conclusion of it.
