Rissa: This isnt usually the type of book I go for. I love Jeneva’s thrillers decided to give this one a go. It’s like freaky Friday meets time travel. It’s suspenseful, it’s compelling, I laughed. I cried. It has everything. Jeneva is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors.

Amazon Customer: I have never sobbed over a book until now... So heart wrenching and thought provoking! Couldn't put it down.
I must say at the beginning it didn't draw me in but about a quarter of the way through I was hooked. Look forward to reading more from this author. ❤

Ashley d.: Jeneva Rose has done it again.. this book brought out so many different emotions for me. I laughed out loud at so many parts, and sobbed ao hard at others.
It was so well written. It was one of those rare books that make you sit and think and contemplate decisions you have made in the past/present and how you want your life to be in the future. I didn't find a single thing that I didn't like about this book. I loved it from the beginning right to the end of the acknowledgements.
Please buy this book and give it a good solid read! You will not regret it!

Changley Cavins: I'll probably always preface a review of a Jeneva Rose book by saying that I'll devour anything she writes! Her books are so easy to read, they have a great flow, and her social media content is the best! She and her husband make me laugh. But, let's get back to 'The Girl I Was.'
I purchased this ebook what feels like forever ago but kept putting other books ahead of it (mood reader problems). So, when I finally started it, I couldn't remember what the synopsis said. I actually think I prefer going into books that way!
While I initially struggled with Lexi's lack of likability (I'm just not a fan of 18-year-old drunk sorority girls), it didn't significantly impact my view of the book. I found myself eventually rooting for Alexis and Lexi's relationship and hoping for a happy ending for both of them.
I enjoyed the mystery of how in the world Alexis would make it back to the present day and how her time in 2002 would impact the world she would eventually return to. That added a nice layer of suspense.
One of my favorite things about this book was the Thanksgiving scene in 2002 with the family. As someone who is no longer in contact with my family, it was a bit rough, but...
