SI: I bought this to reduce the green water color in my tank, and it worked. I placed it in my hang on filter so the light won't be directly visible to the fist as it can be harmful in direct contact. I connected it to a smart plug and run it 1hour 3 times a week. I used it for 2 hours daily when I received it but now I have it set automatically to the 1h 3x/week schedule and my water has been clear since with no more algae overgrowth

AnonAnon: There aren't many reviews written about the mini 3W version, so here's my two cents: It's amazing! I have a 40 gallon tank filled about 1/3 of the way for a snapping turtle hatchling (so about 15 gallons). I have struggled since the first week with cloudy water in spite of using a "reptile" filter rated for up to 40 gallons. I tried an aquarium flocculant. That actually made things worse, so then I replaced the pump in that filter to one that was 3x as strong, thinking the one it came with was just too weak for a turtle (albeit, a very tiny one). The water clarity improved and my water chemistry was always perfect, but I still dealt a lot with stringy, clear/white algae, presumably because the water movement isn't that great and the basking light heats up one end of the tank. I thought I would give this a shot before resolving to buy a ridiculously oversized canister filter (which is not recommended for hatchlings because they don't swim well). I dropped this little UV light into the filter, in front of the intake for the pump to ensure I was getting water flow over it, and left it on all night. Michael Millard & Associates Inc.: I made a few changes in my tank at the same time — this light and polyfill. After my last water change, I added this light and ran for 6 hours in the rear compartment, and added polyfill to the intakes on my Fluval Flex 123. Water is crystal clear. The only thing I would warn is the light does not have a cover and must be placed somewhere that the fish will not be exposed directly.
