MRS.Denning: This may be overwhelming for someone who is new to mushroom foraging and wants to focus on just edible mushrooms / learn quickly without frustration etc. I like Mushrooms of Illinois better to begin with. This is less of a beginners book and more of an intermediate level book simply for those who are focused on learning edible mushroom foraging. My opinion and experience, of course

LenorB: The pictures and write up in this book looks good. However the printing font is very fine, smallish and gray. My senior eyes cannot read it easily and I do not want to go mushroom picking with a book and a magnifying glass. I think I have to return it. Would blame this on the publishing company.

Mike: Well written and convenient reference book. Does a nice job describing the characteristics of different mushroom type and identifies key parameters for identifying edible mushrooms.
