jd66: I’m so happy we got Hal’s story. Full of angst, drama and love. I loved seeing a few favourite characters here too. Awesome narration as well.

Kindle Customer: I don't believe an abuse victim would respond to his rejection like that.

He was cruel and demeaning and spent the book infantilising and trying to fix her life.

Patriarchial Parable

MaryC: Grabs your attention from the beginning until the end. There's a little angst but it's mainly about a compassionate lawyer who doesn't see the good in him and a client
who shows him that he deserves to be happy.

Easy read which leaves you with a happy heart.

Kindle Customer: I have read a lot of MM stories. I read the first 3 in this series before I got tired of them. Now a few years later I was ready for another. I love the way she draws you in and describes her characters. She always weaves an intriguing story. This one made me sad a few times but it was so well written that I even loved the sad times. Fee and Hal are perfect for each other and will give you all the feels. Nicknames and sweet ending stories are my jam. If you have read The Contract you will see similarities like me. Read this one it is good.

Sandra , I am 65 years young. I love God, my husband, children, grandchildren ,and live.. I also love reading my Bible and books 📚📚📚: I couldn’t call Fee. She had given Rene her cell phone and told him she would be getting a new one from BAM. It was in the drawer next to the key, and I shoved it into my pocket. I would give it back to her if she allowed me to do so. I drove as fast as I could. The streets were mostly deserted in the dreadful weather, and I made it to her house in record time. I pulled in the driveway and hurried to the door, ignoring the rain soaking into my suit. The power was out on the street, all the houses dark. I used the flashlight on my phone to light my way. I knocked, but there was no answer, which didn’t surprise me. Inserting the key, I paused briefly, unsure as to what her reaction would be when she saw me. Inside, I slipped off my shoes, calling her name so I didn’t frighten her any further. The thunder echoed in the empty rooms as I hurried down the hall. “Fee!” I shouted, panicked when she hadn’t replied. “Love, where are you?” “Halton?” her anxious voice finally responded. I rushed to her room, holding my phone high, the light guiding me to her. She was on her bed, sitting in the middle, wrapped in a comforter. Her hands gripped the edges, keeping it tight to...

Pamela Waddell: Melanie has a nack of writing stories which draw you in completely. Halton is another of these, book 6 in the Vested Interest series. It's a stand alone story so don't panic if you haven't read books 1 through 5, it won't stop you enjoying this story.
Hal is a hot lawyer, who has devoted his life to family law, helping those who can't help themselves, but doesn't believe love is for him or that he had anything to offer in the long term. Sad really as he has so much to give of only he realised.
Enter Fiona (Fee) Hutchings, the abandoned wife of his biggest adversary, beautiful but emotionally fragile due to the psychological abuse she has endured. Fee is a gentle soul who fell for the wrong man, but still believes in true love and happiness.
Will taking on Fee's case bring Hal out of his self imposed exile from the world.
This is an emotionally charged story of salvation and awakening, beautifully written and hard to put down.

Kelly R: Book 6 in the Vested Interest series, This is an auto 1-click author for me, and I’ve been a fan of the series from the start. Note it’s not necessary to have read the earlier books (though I certainly recommend them), as while there are brief appearances by characters from those books here, you don’t need the background of their stories to enjoy this.

I usually take notes as I read but I was so invested (see what I did there?) in Hal and Fee, I didn’t want to put the book down, lol. While there were some twists to the plot, there were also some turns I found a little predictable, but I didn’t mind because it was the relationships and emotions that kept me engaged in the story. Hal and Fee have both been hurt by people who should have loved and cherished them, and I loved how they each find something in the other that they’ve been missing.

I don’t remember much about Halton from the earlier books so I was surprised at how quickly he pulled me in here. It made me laugh when everyone but Hal could see the writing on the wall in spite of all his protests that he was incapable of love. And the emotional payback when Hal finally gets his head on straight?...

BookAddict: A damaged alpha hero who thinks he’s unworthy and incapable of love? Yes, please! And Moreland gives us a beautifully broken, compelling hero in Halton. An attorney and champion of truth and justice, Hal helps those who might not get help otherwise. When someone with close ties to his biggest rival comes to Hal for help, all bets are off. He'll fight tooth and nail to get justice, but he’s not prepared for the unfamiliar feelings that are stirred up.

This author has an uncanny ability to sneak inside my heart, from the characters she makes me fall in love with to the wide array of emotions she evokes, and everything in between. Although I wanted to shake Hal a time or ten (but his assistant, Rene, and the BAM guys did that for me), I couldn’t help but admire the quality of his character and they way he loves those close to him without ever realizing it. Seems everyone but Hal can see into the depths of his heart. I adored Fiona, a character who changed and grew to a very different person by the end of the book, and the way she related to and interacted with Hal was pure perfection and exactly what he needed.

I loved every moment of this story and was held in...

Xox2read: I was thrilled when I found out Melanie was adding to our BAM boys. Although, Hal doesn’t work directly with BAM, he’s a solicitor who has worked for Van. If you haven’t read a Melanie Moreland book, you are in for a treat. Once you read one, you can’t not stop til you’ve read them all and Melanie will be your favourite author. This story was a sweet addition to the Bam series. Halton (Hal) is a lawyer friend of BAM, works hard and never lies. We first met Hal in Van's book. He is a strong advocate for others but he does not tolerate lies, ever. Hal’s one real rival is another lawyer, Hutchings, who will get as dirty as he has to, to win any case. Then Fiona (Fee) Hutchings comes calling. Right away Hal is on guard, after all this is the wife of his rival - enemy. As it turns out, Fee is a good woman, was a good wife, u til her husband, cheats and then throws her out and now she’s come to Hal, her husband’s sworn enemy for a divorce.
