Faye S. Melvin-Brown: Lot of helpful information

John: I have read dozens of books on nutrition and health. Fiber Fueled fills a void other books either leave out or only skim over.

I highly recoment this book.

#1 thing to take away from reading: Eat as many different types of plant food as possible on a daily basis. I have been following this advice. His advice has worked for me.

Aephaedra: Excellent information on how to have a healthy microbiome for a healthy body. Interesting, informative, educational, well written. Would've been 5 stars except for the poor quality of the paper which I guess is not the author's fault.

delphi7: While I would read like to try this diet, this 4 week plan is not made for one person. Most of the recipes serve 2-4 people.

It is also expensive to follow. Here’s a breakdown of the shopping lists for the 4 weeks.

Week 1 - there are 40 produce items, 35 cupboard items (some of which can be used for the other weeks such as chia seeds and hemp seeds, and almond butter).

There are also 32 pantry items like spices and extracts to have on hand. I have a well stocked kitchen so I already have 25 of those items but would still need to buy things like dried Kombu and yellow curry powder.

Week 2 - over 60 produce and cupboard items

Week 3 - over 70 produce and cupboard items

Week 4 over 70 items produce and cupboard items.

There are a few recipes that you will use for more than one meal but for the most part you have to cook and eat three different meals a day. There is a lot of waste since you’ll have a lot of leftovers that won’t get eaten.

Dr. B needs to come out with a simplified book that’s practical for single people to follow and doesn’t require so many ingredients.

Yvette: This book has really helped me a lot. I started eating a lot of vegetables and less bread and pasta and in no time at all I started feeling lighter and consequently losing weight. I don't have weight problems but intestinal problems. I feel so much better now.
I came upon this book because I listened to a podcast featuring this Doctor Bulsciewz. I was very impressed with what he had to say and decided to put it into practice.
Of course my friends told me that I look great and I referred them to the book.
Buy this book if you care about bettering your health in general!!

birdlaw: After a couple years of obsessively reading whatever I could to "optimize" my health through nutrition, a journey that took me to all kinds of places, authors and experiments, I completely unplugged from this topic like 5-6 years ago. After all, once you turn your back on the hardcore cults (militant vegans, paleo orthorectics (been there), "omg carbs are poison" ketonites, IIFYM calorie counting wannabe fitness models) behind and you arrive back at "just eat 90% real whole foods that your great-great grandparent would've recognized as such" – what new knowledge around the topic of nutrition could we possibly come up with? Right? Riiight?

Turns out I was wrong!

I became vegan in recent years. Whenever asked by people "why?" I replied honestly that I did it purely out of compassion, not because I was convinced plant-based is any healthier than an omnivorous diet also including decent amounts of fruit and veg.

Then one day on a whim I clicked on a podcast with Will Bulsiewicz, cause the title sounded cool. He came across so genuine and passionate, yet also extremely well informed and reasonable, and mentioned some concepts like the SCFA that I'd never heard of...

Tegga: I bought this book as a Christmas present for myself with the idea "I'll start being healthy in the new year" (my yearly promise that never comes to fruition). It's Christmas Eve, I've read the whole thing because I couldn't put it down and I've lost 5lbs in the week before Christmas! I cannot believe it. I haven't wanted to eat all the rubbish I usually indulge in on the run up because of how excited I am to put the right stuff in my body after reading this. I do not find eating healthily easy; I love chocolate, red wine, pizza - all the bad stuff, in abundance. However, a week of following his advice and my 75 year old mum said to me yesterday that I was finally looking ok after looking rough for a while (thanks mum!). I feel instantly better, my skin is brighter after one week and I've got so much energy. I also follow this guy on Instagram and my 9 year old and 7 year old love his clips about healthy poo and diversity of foods - my fussy 7 year old tried green beans and kale this week after we all wrote lists of all of the plants we eat and how we might eat more. This doctor is talking a lot of sense, in a completely down to earth and easily accesible way. A well written and...

bsert: Dr B provides a ton of valuable information and makes it easily understood. I flew through this book and feel so much better about what I need to eat to make myself feel my best. I recommend this book to everyone I know. I gave this book 5 stars for his part in the book but was not a fan of the 4 week meal plan for a few reasons:

1. The meal prep in some weeks is just not doable for a working person. I am currently not working so I had the time and I was nonstop cooking for 3 days straight for the first weeks prep. It just wasn’t manageable and the quick fix options still required a significant amount of prep since you had to use items that took a lot of prep (e.g., had to use the dip that took over an hour of prep for the sandwich).
2. The meal plan was not laid out easily to follow. You really had to read the entire meal plan for the week ahead of time. Week 2 lunch would sometimes be leftovers from a week 1 dinner? This was frustrating because I had either finished the leftovers or thrown them away before the next week even started. The leftover days would always be 2-3 days after they were cooked and this was a continuous cycle each week. I wish it was laid out so...

AvidReader: I loved this book, but I teach wellness courses and it ticks a lot of boxes for me, the most important being that it is backed by recent science. Let me explain what I think about the book for other readers:
1. It gives you the science behind the recommendations. You may want to skip right to the recommendations, if you don't want to learn the "whys." If you're a science geek, or you have one of the lifestyle diseases the author discusses, read the beginning.
2. If you are already sure your current lifestyle is the best for you, this may not be the book for you. As the author says, we are each individual and you may have already determined what your lifestyle should look like. But if you are feeling less than your very best every day, give this book a shot. Go in with an open mind. This stuff is new knowledge--within the last 5 years, in most cases--so you are unlikely to have heard about it when you were in high school. Or college, unless you're a student in the health sciences right now.
3. The food recommendations should be used as a guideline, not as a "you must eat this and only this" set of rules, in my opinion. Personally, I am not going to get up and cook a bunch...
