This is my 2nd winter and it is still going strong.
It keeps the water unfrozen for the birds and squirrels to enjoy.
Even on some of the coldest days (-44F with the wind), the water stayed thawed.
The water does evaporated quickly especially on colder days so I do have to refill it daily on those days.
Otherwise I refill it every other day.
Very easy to clean, I just use a soft sponge and some dawn soap and the debris and buildup wipe away easily.
The power cord is rather short, that is really my only complaint.
Just a quick note, make sure you use a cold ready extension cord. Mine is set up in a way it doesn't touch the ground and is never sitting in water. I also have a protector around the plug in.
Extremely satisfied with this bird bath and so are my birds!

Sister: In our almost-acre yard, we added this small, ground-level heated birdbath to provide birds and critters with a good water option during winter. It's working perfectly, and I note that even in seriously arctic temperatures in Montana (windchilll temps of 42 degrees below zero), the water did not freeze over. In those extreme temperatures, frost formed around the edges, and there were a couple of very thin, very small, floating pieces of ice. But that was it. Even in "regular" temperatures, ranging from 20 degrees to zero, the birdbath doesn't freeze over. My only concern – minor – is that the legs slip out easily when I try to clean the birdbath. My solution is to simply affix them permanently with superglue. This birdbath is perfect for our needs. We have two other heated birdbaths in the yard: a standing birdbath and a large ground-level one. The three together help keep birds, deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and other critters from dehydration when unfrozen water is in relatively scarce supply. I recommend frequent cleaning. And it is a shallow birdbath. But I've placed it where it's an easy fill, daily or every other day.

echobunnyechobunny: I got this since I’ve had a bird bath on the railing so I want to ensure the birds know they can expect water year-round, even in freezing temps. I’ve had it about 6 weeks and am very pleased with its performance!
As I write this, it’s currently -4 degrees Fahrenheit outside here in the Midwest. While some of the water has frozen a bit on the top/sides, the base has kept the water from freezing and the center is completely unfrozen so birds can still drink from it.
It’s been a little challenging getting the bird bath mounted to our thin railing since the clamp seems more intended for large wood railings. What I ended up doing is just strapping a board across the corner with a bungee cord to hold it in place (as shown in my pics). This setup is working great and keeps the bath level.
It is pretty shallow, but I think it needs to be to keep the water thawed. It seems to be plenty for the number of birds we have around right now & I fill it every couple days. It does not make the water hot, but it keeps it warm enough to prevent freezing, even in the subzero temps we’re currently having.
The metal frame that holds it is very substantial and...

Rob: The water dry out way to fast not deep enough in winter hve to full it up 2 times as water vapors

M: I like it but I think it’s too shallow. The water seems to evaporate or blow away quickly and the bad weather hasn’t even started yet

BetsyBetsy: Bought this birdbath about a month ago and am very impressed! I live in north dakota and wasn't sure if it would be able to hold up to the kind of cold we get here, the other reviews weren't nearly in as cold of places as here. But after this past week, I'm sold. We were experiencing colds of -20 to -30°F and then wind-chills as low as -44°F and let me tell you, this thing never froze. As you can see in the picture, if it is exposed to wind- ice will accumulate on the edges. But since it needs filled daily or every other day in this cold, I just take that ice out then.
The actual construction of the birdbath is pretty good. The dish sits in a metal ring that gives you options to attach it to a fence or sit on the ground. 4 little pegs insert into the base if you set it directly on the ground. The pegs don't stay in very well if you try to move it. If you lift it up, they fall out. So it's a little tedious to clean if you aren't careful. But some zip ties I'm sure would hold them in place.
For the price, I'm very impressed. It does exactly what it's supposed to-- it doesn't freeze. And since I live in Grand Forks, ND~ which is the coldest city in the continental US;...

W. H.: The day after I set up the birdbath there was a huge snowfall and temp fell to -20 C. (in Edmonton). The birdbath worked perfectly over night and kept the water from freezing. The birds started drinking from it but then also started to splash around in the water (can't let these little guys get wet in the winter!) So my solution, which seems to work really well, was to set a plastic plant saucer about one inch smaller in diameter than the birdbath upside down in the birdbath. Then I placed a terra cotta saucer on top of the plastic saucer to weigh it down. Thus the birds have access to fresh unfrozen water but only can't splash around. In the spring I'll remove the saucer and let them go crazy in the water! You will need to fill the birdbath every day (holds about 2 cups of water).

Ambrose FogartyAmbrose Fogarty: Keeps the water from freezing. It works at -10c and I'd expect it to be fine colder than that, too. I don't think birds would be interested in taking a dip in -30 degree weather but I'm not a bird so I don't know. The water never gets warm, so don't expect a bird hot tub. Other than that, I've got it set up on the little feet it comes with and that's fine. The cord is pretty short so you'll want an extension cord. The bath is wide but shallow, so there's a good amount of evaporation and you'll have to fill it up every few days. I haven't seen any birds in the bath yet and its been a week, but I have been told that it might take several weeks before the birds are familiar with it enough to go for a splash. Makes sense because it takes them a while to warm up to a new feeder.
Overall, does precisely everything expected of it. I gave it a 5 in all categories. I would have given it 6 stars for "sheerness" if I could.

Lenny's wife: Living in the cold northeast, the birds do not have a lot of options to get water when the temperatures dip below freezing. This heated 'bird bath' is ideal and we've had so many birds use it to drink during the absolute coldest weather. We've never had a bird bathe in ours, just drink from it, which is perfectly fine with me. I've never had the water freeze in this unit, even with temps well below zero. The steel construction of the ring and heavy plastic water dish have withstood some pretty intense New England winters. You just need an outdoor electrical outlet and you will have many happy, appreciative birds all winter long. Enjoy it!
