Ruth: I liked this bird bath enough to consider buying another one for this winter. The last one I bought was in 2020. BUT, it has gone up 30.00 since then? I understand a need for price increases over time but a 30.00 increase has made me change my mind. Will look for another brand.

RB: I'd been looking for a heated bird bath for a while when I found this one. It really is a well designed unit for my application. I have a metal two foot tall circular stand that is left over from a small glass top patio table that is about 18" in diameter with nothing in the center as the glass is gone. This bath nests on top of the stand and most of the bath weight is below the supporting ring. We have a very windy location and even in 60 MPH gusts this doesn't move though some of the water may get blown out. This arrangement also gives full easy access to the underside so plugging the heater in is very easy. Definitely get a plug cover to protect the plug and extension cord receptacle and keep them dry and securely connected, I found a really nice one at the local big box store for powering Christmas decorations outside.
The smaller birds like that fact that it is flat bottomed and lets them stand anywhere from perching on the rim to bathing in the middle without being too deep.
We keep a gallon of water inside the house so it's always at room temp to top the bath up when needed.
Cleaning is simple and easy. The birds love to drink and splash in the warm water when it's...

Kathryn Johns: The birds sure appreciated it this past winter. It is a bit hard to keep clean. It won’t come completely clean and seems to have that “bathtub ring” no matter how we scrub. Would be nice if they paired it with a well fitting stand. Hard to find one that works well.

AP: Really like this unit. It did not come with instructions, but found them on the internet. We installed it on a cement pedestal to provide stability. At first we thought it wasn't working (water froze the first night at -30°C). But we then found the issue, one of our outside plug was not working. It worked very well once we fixed it. It worked. thawed the existing frozen 2in of water in a few hours. Most importantly, the birds like it.

S. J. Howard: This is the second one of these bird baths that I have purchased in the last few years. The birds in my backyard love it, it’s big enough for three or four sparrows at a time to splash around and have fun, it’s easy to clean and does a great job of keeping the water melted in the winter time.

Leslie Bayford: This is a great product; it keeps the water from freezing during the coldest winter days in Ottawa Ontario Canada! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is not easy to install on a post with the hardware included and requires lots of fiddling around.

Daddio DaveDaddio Dave: I had previously used a different version of API birdbath that lasted for many, many years. I decided to try this larger one. I just bought the birdbath, without the ornate stand that you can buy with it. The mounting kit that comes with it is very versatile and allowed me to mount it onto the end of a log (see picture) to get it off the ground. The center hole on the bottom of the birdbath uses a standard 1/4 inch x 20 tpi threaded insert. So if you want to, you can use your own mounting configuration that provides a 1/4 inch x 20 tpi bolt.
The birdbath is made of a sturdy high quality plastic that is not flimsy or brittle. I find it easy to clean the birdbath. I just tip the old water out and wipe it down with a paper towel. I then refill with a gallon of fresh water, which fills it nearly full. The heater within the birdbath does a great job in preventing the water from freezing. It keeps the water temperature at about 59 degrees F (as measured by an infrared thermometer with outdoor temp at 31 deg). To save electricity, I plug the birdbath into an outdoor smart plug (Kasa brand) and have the power turn on only when the temperature drops below 35 degrees F by using an...

Patricia Horner: This purchase was a replacement for the exact same unit that lasted me 24 years!! It was not keeping water thawed anymore so it was time to replace. I will be using old one for summer since its easy to clean and birds love the big wide bowl and the depth is perfect for all birds. I do not have it attached to a deck instead I have it sitting in my cement birdbath since I like the location of that.

Taimi Brooks: I love the mounting options you have with this item. I just rinse it daily and refill it with water. When the water evaporates it leaves residue that looks off but once you rinse it and refill it, you’ll see it’s still the same colour. I didn’t think it was working at first because everything was cold but so far we are at -10 Celsius and it’s still water, not warm, but it’s still water. Overall I’m pretty sure the birds give it a talons up!

GardenAddict: I was really looking forward to using this for my birds this winter. The mounting instructions showed the configuration of parts which would work for my railing. However, it came assembled for the post mounted configuration. And it was impossible to disassemble it from that configuration. I will have to return it so I don't know if it works.
Update: After viewing other buyers images I decided to just find something to place it on since it couldn't be rail mounted
