It pulls through single sheets (not 2 or 3 accidentally) of paper from a stack very easily without marking or creasing them. It also scans on both sides of the paper at once, during a single pass, and automatically deletes blank pages from the uploaded file. Love this thing.

Vlad: Scanner is good. However if you want to scan with more than 4 users/computers you have to pay a license to use. This is ridiculous. I will have to pay license to use scanner that I bought.
Everyone is trying to get to subscription business these days to squeeze more and more from consumers and businesses. We should collectively refuse any software or products with subscription requirements.

Jason Bourne: Okay, so I’ve been using scanners since the beginning. Through all types and iterations of flatbeds, resolutions, auto-feeders, and not-so-great OCR readers. My last one was the ScanSnap s1500. I was soo impressed with it, that when it finally came time for a replacement, I went for the latest and greatest ScanSnap. This iX1600 is that scanner.
First, I should say that my old one is still working, but the rollers are getting gummy, and starting to break down after more than 10 years of daily service. Nothing else is wrong with it, which is a testament to how well these are built.
So, when I got this iX1600, I expected more of the same. I was NOT prepared for how much the company had improved it. The speed of the scans is ridiculous. Ree-diculous. I thought the s1500 was fast, but this is insane.
The software is leaps and bounds ahead of the s1500, and super configurable for techies like me. Pretty much anything at all can be changed.
The scanner can even be set to run completely wirelessly (except for power, of course), and you can just drop documents into it and have it can to the cloud using WiFi.
There’s a guide that comes with it for...

Kathy K.: I do really like it. It behave like a photocopier with the auto feed and there is an auto feed part for receipts. I put in half a dozen sheets and 4 receipts at the same time and they all fed through. The only issue I've had is with really long receipts. After about four tries I actually held the back end of the receipt up. Took a few tries but finally went through all the way.

William E.: I bought this scanner in March 2023 and have reduces hundreds of paper reciepts and documents that I stored in my file cabinet. I can load documents and receipts in the feeder of any width and they scan flawlessly and I have not had to clean once in almost two months and I use it every day.
The software is great and I can store all the scanned household and business documents and receipts in organized folders.
I highly recommend this scanner

Dettabra: I had a Fujitsu S1500 for over 12 years. It was a beast to scan quickly and accurately - configurable and ran continuously for 8 of those 12 years supporting my business. This iX1600 as a replacement has the same familiar feel to the UX (albeit a touchscreen vs a scan button) for configuration.
The set up is cleaner than updates were for the S1500. It scans significantly faster even at a higher resolution (if desired). The receipt feeder that is a nice addition. The heft and familiar feel should make it as much of a beast as the S1500 was.

Old Geek: I purchased the iX1600 to replace my faithful S500 scanner that lasted for 14+ years until it finally died. The new scanner is certainly much faster and it does seem easier to use after setting up the appropriate profiles. (I'm using the new ScanSnap Home software rather than the ScanSnap Manager program as provided with the S500.) I have the iX1600 directly connected via a USB cable to EITHER a Windows 10 OR a Linux Mint system. Mainly for security reasons I haven't tried connecting the scanner to WiFi or sending scanned documents to the Cloud, so I can't comment on those features.
I mainly scan B&W financial documents, using the "Normal" resolution setting (=300dpi) along with automatic rotation. The resulting files are acceptably small and are easy to read. The OCR implementation seems to work well. I haven't used the new scanner enough to see if paper jamming is a problem, but based on the S500 I'm hoping that will not be a problem.
By using SANE drivers I was able to use the old S500 scanner with my Linux Mint system. I was hoping that the iX1600 could also be used under Linux but there is problem because the Stable version of the SANE Repository contains a...

GK: This Scansnap iX1600 replaces my 2009 era Scan snap S1500 that died after roughly 14 years of faithful service.
The newer model is faster, has a touch screen, and WiFi. The PC-side software is different, but easy to use. Hoping this one lasts long too.
