Taylor Thompson: This thing is awesome. It has so many features in one, and is definitely a must have for your emergency supplies kit. The quality is really nice as well. Very glad I purchased.

DLPDLP: After a camping trip to the middle of nowhere with no cell service I realized that it would be beneficial to have an off-grid means of being able to know of impending weather conditions. This little radio clicks off a list of conveniences: solar charging plus hand crank so it will always have power, a reading light, flash light. Small size is easily packable for wherever adventures take you. I keep it on a windowsill so it’s always charged and ready to go.

Crdinpa: This review will go over the pros and cons of the FosPower 4000 versus the Raynic 5000. Both are great units with a few key pros/cons for each that will determine which one you pick as your device. They cost virtually the same:

First the Pros of the FosPower4000
- Build quality is top notch - it just feels solid without being heavy at all
- The dynamo for the hand charger secured nicely and is easily retreivable
- The bright to dimmer flashlight options are excellent and more versatile
- The carabiner that is included is top notch
- Limited LIFETIME Warranty (wow!)
- Rechargeable battery easily accessible for replacement if necessary

The Cons of the FosPower4000 - implying 4000 mAh battery
- Only 2 ways to charge it; USB and solar; USB cable included but no plug
- The manual tuning dial buttons are not the best way to go when you need quick access to a Weather band
- No headphone jack
- 8 times out of 10 when I grabbed it, I accidentally hit the SOS button; no button-lock feature
- Handcrank does not feel smooth when turned

Now for the Pros of the Raynic5000 - implying 5000mAh battery
- Build quality if good but not as solid...

Janaina: I did a lot of research on different models before choosing this one, and I can guarantee that this item is very satisfactory, in addition to being an excellent price, handle with care, of course, I use it a lot for traveling and for emergencies only, it would be nice if the power button emergency alarm was red because depending on how you pick it up, you don't know where the button is and you can press it by accident, not a big deal though, and I'm used to it now, recharging the phone worked very well and it charged very quickly, like my phone had 5 percent of battery in 5 minutes was 27 percent, depends on you phone of course, but it does charges well regardless. I also recharged the item itself when I had no power, I used the handle and turned it for a few minutes and soon it was already well charged, enough to charge the phone and have communication, the radio works great very well, if you need it, the solar also charges the device well, every 3 months charge the electricity full charge, and in that time I also leave it in the sun to maintain the charge. but as I said, if the charge in the device it self runs out, turn the crank and it will charge enough to charge a cell...

jordan: good build quality and sound, EXCEPT the antenna which is very fragile and if you bump or twist it even the slightest amount it will make and audible snap and whatever is inside is broken and you no longer get a clean signal or any signal at all on fm, so i replaced my antenna with a much better quality one from an old broken radio and it completely fixed all issues. the replacement does not have anything inside and can be twisted all day and and doesn't have the risk of accidently twisting the top and breaking it.

in a previous review i went into more details like battery capacity and other technical stuff.

battery capacity is as advertised, has to be charged a couple times from no power drained to get full capacity.

dynamo makes more than enough power to run the lights and power the radio but don't expect to charge 4000 mAh worth of internal batteries with it, its meant to give 5 minutes at low ~ medium volume after cranking for a about a minute.

sound is clear and crisp (after antenna upgrade) and not too tinny unlike cheaper radios however it's not super loud like my old radio but i prefer a broader gamut of sound over tinny blasting...

SamuelSamuel: This is excellent for emergency use and (my personal use) for when your power goes out. The FosPower comes with a built in radio, power bank, SOS button, USB port, charging Port, solar charging, hand crank for charging and a LED flashlight.
The flashlight is very bright, I was impressed by the light alone. LED lights produce more light with less electricity so this flashlight is brighter and will last longer.
The handle is easy to turn and makes a little bit of noise. When it comes to charging, it is not super fast but it is decent when you have no other source of electricity.
If you have a problem with noise, say at night you do not want to wake anyone up or bother them. This can be a problem, however the noise it not excessive. it does get louder the faster you spin.
The Fos has the ability to be charged via sun, however it does not charge fast. Especially if it is not direct sunlight (By your window, in a shaded area)
After leaving the device by my window all day it only achieved 20% charge, and it was already near that charge level to begin with.
It’s a decent feature but it does not compete with the hand crank.

Priscilla: I like the fact you can crank it ,that it recharges sitting in the window all day day after day it’s been reliable so far I turn it on all the time. has a nice little flashlight on one end . You could hang it in your tent or over the sink while washing dishes something like that in an outage .
Just don’t open the solar so far up and the light won’t come on so you can aim the solar to be ideal for where the sun is but in the window it’s been recharging itself just fine.
It will continuously tell you temperatures abd other weather information however recently we had an outbreak as you know through the south and Noaa was not actually working so in that case it was not as useful as it could’ve been. It’s important to have a back up system that will inform you like weather on your phone or something like that. Some people find the droning on and temperatures and weather around the area irritating I think if it’s an outbreak I’m gonna listen to it be irritated to be safe lol.
Additionally it takes a long time to bring those lithium batteries down you can play it for hours and still on four blue lights, which means it’s 75 to 100% charged.
send in the car...
