Savannagal: I love Lidia’s show and have several of her books. Many of her recipes are rather simple, which is actually what I prefer. Sometimes I think “I could have made that without a recipe”, but the fact is, I didn’t think of it. It’s nice to Lidia’s recipes to prompt me and remind me of how good simple ingredients and recipes can be. Of course other recipes are more complicated, or as I call them, weekend recipes. Because I’m a huge fan I also liked reading the stories. Overall, I love the book.

Dinkydoright: I hadn't expected to buy this Lidia cookbook but then I saw her on PBS with recipes from this one. Two recipes got me going: the branzino and the olive oil cake. I love branzino and have tried making it without success ... meaning my husband wasn't thrilled with the outcome. This recipe though showed me how to roast the whole fish and then prepare it for the table. After that I came upon the olive oil cake, for which many recipes are available. This time however the time was right for this one. Finally I do want to add that this is a book for few recipes. Those that are there are exceptional. I expect to make several more and find equal success with them ... with the exception of the artichoke recipes. I'm allergic to those tasty little buds.

Marlette L.: Felidia is a wonderful, well written cookbook. The additional bio commentary about Lidia Bastianich is enjoyable, especially since I really enjoy her PBS programs. If made a number of the recipes and have not found them at all complicated or requiring special ingredients that are difficult to find .
Some of the recipes have been adjusted to accommodate more American tastes but not enough that they aren't clearly recognized as Italian.

M: I watch the show and enjoy it very much. However, what I wanted was a specific recipe that I saw on the show. I thought it was misleading to post the cookbook at the end with a claim to find the days recipes . It was not there . Disappointed . I like collecting cookbooks so I’m sure that I will find something in this that I will use. I was surprised to find the photographing of the dishes not to be up to par with other books . Not great quality . Pictures just don’t pop or look exciting or delicious .

F. Drebin: What an incredible collection of recipes! This cookbook only made be further regret never having made it to Felidia in NYC even though I live only 50 miles away. At least, now, I will be able to recreate (within the limits of my cooking skills) many of the dishes I might have enjoyed there. These are not "simple" recipes in that many require a fair amount of prep and call for "high-end" ingredients, like porcini mushrooms. But, thanks to the authors' easy-to-follow instructions, neither are they beyond the capabilities of most home cooks.
If you are a Lidia fan, have all or most of her cookbooks, and don't know how to fit yet another on your shelf, find a way.
