Amazon Customer: Slater excels in fast- paced action. Very entertaining. But plot is formulaic and there’s too much unnecessary introspection. Good guys are incredible human beings and the villains are pure evil. I get it. Move on.

JC: I liked this one and I think it is better than the first one, so if you liked the first one I think you will really like this one.
There is a lot going on here! On the one hand, Trapp is after one guy who is the last on his list of payback for the crimes committed in the first book. He teams up with a smart and beautiful (no average looking women in the spy game apparently) woman and they go to get the guy. Then it all goes to hell and there is suddenly all kind of stuff happening from the threat of outright war with China to a secret group of other people. I don't want to spoil it, so no details. Let's just say there is a lot going on with several different groups of players and no one seems to have a good handle on what exactly is happening and why. So, lots of action and gun fire ec...
I also like it that the woman is the usual beautiful spy but there is no sexual relationship between her and the hero, Trapp. He respects her and she is one tough cookie! Not tough in the sense of beating people up, though there is a bit of that, but tough mentally and in her commitment to her country and mission even when the going is as tough as it could possible...

Doug: I thought Jack's second book was more exciting than his first book Deep State. And Deep State was very exciting in itself. Can't wait to start the next in the series-Flash Point. What's Jason Trapp going to get into next??
Highly recommend this author and series! If you likerealistic, action-packed drama, you won't be sorry.
