Sheila Gallagher: Dr. Dhoot explains the solar system and the universe in simple terms for toddlers. I liked the illustrations which show what she is explaining. I liked that there is a simple story line for the younger ones with more explanation for older toddlers. I learned the order of the planets past Mars. I also learned a little about what can be seen with the naked eye. On the next clear night or when out in the country, I plan on looking for the constellations named in the book. This is a really nice introduction to our solar system.

Kid's Word Cookbook author: You will learn and retain more facts about the solar system from this little kid’s book than anything you learned in school or read out of an encyclopedia. You might even be better equipped to play Jeopardy! The book devotes a page or two to each planet with trivia about some unique characteristics of each one. Interestingly, Earth seems to be the blandest of the planets and if you were an alien, probably the last one you would want to visit. The fact that the author didn’t think to say that Earth is the only planet capable of supporting life was maybe a missed opportunity. The only other quibble I have is the presumptuousness of the statement, “You are on Earth right now.” How does he know for sure that you are on Earth? Maybe you’re in a plane high above the Earth. Or maybe you’re one of the lucky ones to get a ride on Blue Origins space craft or one of the other spaceships ferrying passengers away from Earth. Whether you’re on Earth or not, you are sure to learn at least a few things you never knew about the solar system from reading this book.

Lynnelle: I loved The Solar System, which I tried first, after seeing an online interview with the author, who is a mother and an engineer! The first book was great, and so were Neural Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Supervised Machine Learning and Ocean Life. I am retired teacher of children aged 3-9 years - one who has never lost the love of learning and enjoys sharing my enthusiasm with children. These books are PERFECT additions to any classroom or home library, and the manner in which the author speaks with children (and everyone else) simply ENCOURAGES EXCITEMENT ABOUT EXPLORATION OF THE WORLD and what discoveries may lie ahead! I look forward to the book about Mars, and recommend all these small volumes wholeheartedly. Note: they are lightweight and easy for kids to handle independently. Also, the author created her own illustrations - which is an encouragement to all aspiring authors/illustrators out there. Dr. Dhoot has written a great series to inspire us all. Thanks, Dr. Dhoot!!!
