BookEater: No ifs. No buts. It’s A brilliant book.
The attention to detail explaining exactly how our brain works when sleeping is outstanding. Every character is perfectly fleshed out that it’s easy to see them in your minds eye.
Came across this book by pure chance.
Going to look up more by this author right now

Sharon D: You had to know that this was going to end badly. The doctor had a reasonable idea about the experiment he was about to under take. He brought on two people thinking they going to be the the perfect subjects. Everything was going as planned until...well, I don't want to spill the blood. I mean beans. You'll have to turn out the lights and read without sleeping. However long it takes. You won't want to sleep until you finish it.

The Finneys: I'm an avid fan of horror, reading many King, Koontz, and Herbert amongst a melting pot of the "major classics and greats" but this book disappointed somewhat.
The 1st 3rd was all I can describe as "meh" and when I finally drudged to the finale, there were flashes of brilliance (1 chapter maybe) which petered out to nothing. (I simply didn't feel connected too or cared about the characters fates in anyway which diminished the conclusion of the story alot)
The book felt badly paced but mostly irrelevant and underwhelming to the overall arch of the story. I was most disappointed with the twist which could have built up so much more suspense and guess work from the reader.
I'd like to try more of this authors works, as like i say, there were some thought proving parts, but im currently in no rush to do so based of what I've read so far.

dillon jones: After reading this book I thought to myself “i can stay up for 14 days” the first few days were fine I was tired but it was manageable. Around the fifth day I had to start using hardcore drugs to stay awake. After starting the drugs I was fully capable of staying awake. Then on about the seventh day I started seeing shadow people. They weren’t to terrible, I just had to wear shoes all the time to keep them from stealing my ankles. Then from the eighth day to the thirteen day I kept seeing mushrooms coming out of my head in the mirror which was a bit of a concern to me so I peeled the skin off my face and that solved that problem. But on the fourteenth day. I threw a small Indian man into a wall and turned a police officer into confetti. But after that I got the best sleep of my life.
10/10 would recommend

Lusius: You'd be forgiven at first glance for thinking this is another book with an "intelligent man who the ladies love and is low key racist and wants to be One Of The Kids"
I read it and at first, I was generally put off, though I did start drinking Dark and Stormies to match the theme as I read.
This book.
Y'all this book.
Takes the boring main character, and uses all your distaste to crush him. It's frankly a delightful trip, as you grow and learn with the story.
The ending is pretty great, though not at all what I expected.
If you only read the first few pages, I get it. But frankly it was such an exciting trip. Just ride with it, let your distaste go with it, and you won't be disappointed!

Joëlle Lageyre: L'idée est originale , mais le récit tarde à commencer , avec trop de considérations sur la vie privée du personnage principal . Toutefois le récit reste prenant , et rempli de suspense .

Maximilian Reichelsdorfer: Its a solid novel with well written characters and a good thrill.
The only reason for the missing 1 star is my personal preference.
Imo there is a little too much backstory told about the characters. Some readers may love this as it might make the story feel more authentic and in consequence more thrilling overall. To me the way some of the characters are introduced feels wordy, boring and unnecessary. As an example Stephen Kind's Cell barely tells any backstory of the characters, yet they still feel real and believable.
All in all i would have enjoyed as well as expected to read more about the experiment and its suspects than the ones conducting it and their personal life. However many might like the way it's actually written best, this is just my opinion. Thus and because of the really strong middle part and ending : solid 4/5

ChibiNeko: This isn't a perfect book, but it's one that I tore through fairly quickly.
First, the good:
The horror and tension in this book are fairly well done. Everything builds up fairly well and while it's apparent early on that things are not OK, that just lends to the horror. It's all something that could translate into a film very easily, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the author either created a script for this after writing it or had one outlined already. His strong suit is honestly the scenes of terror, which are the ones that seem to have been lavished upon more. And if I'm being honest, an effect scene of terror and horror can be hard to find.
Now the not so good:
Some of the characters are pretty one dimensional, especially the two minority characters. They aren't reduced to their exotic-ness, but a large emphasis is put on their race and accents. There is an attempt to give them some depth, but a lot of it tends to focus more on their otherness to the point when certain things happen it just doesn't feel entirely organic. They essentially come across as the cannon fodder characters in horror films, you know - the ones who are too...

Amazon Customer: I wasn't too sure what to expect from this, but was pleasantly surprised.
The Russian sleep experiment has intrigued me for years, so was quite interesting to hear of more cases that were mentioned in the book.
Although there were a lot of stereotypical features for some of the characters, like an Asian girl with Asian stereotypes and an Indian guy with Indian sterotypes; these were sometimes cringeworthy in how stereotypical they were.
However, the story was actually really good with some twists and turns. I finished the book in 1 setting and was gripped in the first 2nd half.
I'll definitely be checking out more works from the author.
