Amazon Customer: If you are having problems running this adapter reliably when streaming heavy content, you need to configure Window's to rate limit the adapter instead of pulling the entire 1Gbp/s. Might be a problem since I have a rather old CPU (i7 7600u) and that is causing dropouts or driver restarts.
Other than that the adapter works fine for 100% of content usage. Watching 1080p 60fps videos, downloading large datasets, cloning large github repositories (all simulataneously).

Amazon Prime User: I purchased this adapter to upgrade the speed of my legacy, 2008 Dell desktop with an old, on-board 10/100 ethernet port. Although this old machine only has USB 2.0, I still was able to increase my internet download speed from 95Mbs (before) to 293Mbs (after) according to speedtest. File transfer from PC to NAS is greatly improved too. Internet and network performance is noticeably faster. Recommended!

Ross Crowhurst: These adapters have worked well for me in three different scenarios I have tried. First was on a mini PC with one built in ethernet port to add 2 extra ethernet ports for a trial Proxmox server running OPNSense. Was expecting to see issues but they worked well with USB pass through. However I got s dedicated mini PC with 4 ports for Proxmox and so now use these adapters on our laptops which do not have built in ethernet ports when running with an external monitor on desk. They work great for this use case. Easy to use - no issues experienced.

Matt O: I feel like I have left a review for this already, anyway I've had it nearly a year now so...
I have a Windows 2012R2 Hyper-V server based on a desktop board which only had one built in gigabit port. At the time it was in a MiniITX case and I didn't have space for a PCI card so I went for this. It seemed a bit better than the other Chinese no-name ones I looked at. It arrived on time in proper packaging and seemed reasonable quality for the price, no problems connecting it. Clearly this is a bit bulky (they all are) and will dangle out the back of a higher USB port on a tower case. I recommend using a lower port on a PC but this would work well on a laptop.
Since I bought this I have upgraded my server to a MicroATX case and different board and this affects my opinion of the product. When I first used this with my ASROCK Z77 ITX (Ivy Bridge) board it was unreliable needed to be unplugged and re-plugged in, one or twice a week (24/7 system). That said, ALL the USB 3.0 connections on this board we're unreliable, my USB3 external drive also used to just disappear when it felt like it too. I tried different drivers with varying results. SO, with my new Gigabyte H97...

Aman S: It's important to remember when purchasing this particular product that the maximum speeds you'll be able to achieve depend heavily on other factors. The most important being that a Bit and a Byte are completely different, for the purposes of this review the values are all in megabytes as the speed you pay for from Internet Provider is given in Megabytes. The second being the USB socket you plug into.
If you use USB 3.0 then you will get the full gigabit Ethernet speeds (128 Megabytes) as USB 3.0 supports 640 Megabytes a second. However those who plug into USB 2.0, the absolute maximum you can achieve is around 60 Megabytes per second, however most will find you only achieve around 25 megabytes on average. This is decent for general internet browsing and streaming, but its useful to know as it isn't explicitly stated.
The speeds achieved also depend on your Ethernet Cables, be sure to use Category 5e or Category 6 to ensure maximum speeds. (these cables are relatively cheap)
Finally be sure to check that your router's Ethernet ports are in fact Gigabit Ethernet, otherwise this is product is irrelevant to you without a better router (most modern routers are...

djd: This USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter works great. So easy to use with my new Windows 11 laptop. Totally plug-n-play, improved the internet speed and my sense of security not using wifi.
