When I hit the bag in the middle, it's okay. Near the top, it feels like I'm punching a pillow. When I punch the bottom, it feels like I'm punching a bag of sand. How can I fix this?

BradenWortzBradenWortz: So, if you’re like me & you’re reading this you’re probably reading reviews about this bag because you see it’s very inexpensive & available as an Amazon Choice, with Prime shipping. But, your probably also seeing several negative reviews about the quality.
I’ve had the bag now for a while & been using it regularly. By that, I mean, I use it on a weekly basis. I am not a boxer & I don’t work with it daily. I just wanted something I could use at home to incorporate into my cardio workouts. I have had bigger, heavier bags in the past. If you’re more into boxing you’ve probably used the larger bags that are very dense & filled with sand. This bag is not like that. It’s labeled as an MMA bag. I don’t do MMA, so I’m really in no place to speak on their training methods, but I imagine they may at times work with smaller, softer bags as they do kick work & their gloves aren’t as padded as boxing gloves. Either way, the nice thing about this bag is it’s only 70lbs which means I can remove it pretty easily when I’m not using it. I don’t mind that it’s a softer bag as it allows me to use minimally padded gloves.

Lee: This is my first and only bag, so keep that in mind, i don't have much to compare it to. With that said, I've been fairly happy with it. it should be noted that it does get hard in the bottom, but i don't have to much of a problem, since i mostly kick the bottom of mine. i do have a few tears, but i'm pretty sure all of those were my fault (pointy cornered desk near by), and a little gorilla tape works quite well for me, so i see no reason to complain about that.
One thing you should absolutely note is the weight, for some of us, 70lb doesn't sound that heavy, but trust me, it is. i advise a buddy help you with hanging this, or at the very least a strong chair to stand it on. Even if the weight isn't a problem, its clumsy and hard to maneuver. The box, while still mostly intact, was pretty beat up do to the weight of the bag.
Lastly, ignoring the tears, this bag does seem to be quite durable, i have been known to hang off of it like a big monkey (i'm 240lb) and its fine, although be careful if you start swinging, i nearly had a hole torn in me.

Dana: I paid the extra money to buy a pre-filled bag, which was a mistake. This bag was very hard. Too hard for me and my son to use. I was worried that repeated punching over time would cause damage to bone cartilage, nerves and tendons. So I took out all the stuffing, which consisted of 4 ziplock type bags filled with sand and the rest looked like shredded up clothes packed in really tight. I had an old foam pad laying around, so I cut that up into pieces. I started by putting a little of the shredded cloth in, and then put in one bag of sand and filled the rest up with the foam. That worked perfectly! It was easy enough to re-stuff the bag, except the tab on the zipper was broken right out of the box, so I had to use pliers to get it unzipped. I would like to note that when you pull the tab on the zipper, it releases a little spring type thing inside. So if the tab is broke off, the zipper thing won't move unless you stick a little wire through it to unlatch whatever that spring thing is (never knew zippers did that until now). The bag itself is very sturdy and seems well made. The stitching seems very solid and strong. The canvas is also thick and heavy so it should be durable,...
