Essential Smart Garage Door Opener with Genie Chain Glide Connect Technology

Clare Baxter: My husband didn't have any difficulties installing this, a replacement, but the programming was a pain! I had to do some internet searching to figure out the solution. The flashing light would not come on because the buttons were not centered on the circuit on the board. He had to remove the rubber top and push it on the board, it worked great after that. Annoying and this company should explain the defect so that people don't have to experience this aggravation as well as the time that is wasted. The first one that we bought had the same problem, which we returned and reordered, so obviously, it is a defect and should be fixed or at least explained in the setup instructions!

Wood-chips-Steve: unfortunately the item arrived damaged, customer service was contacted and a replacement part was shipped, good documentation was needed as there are a lot of parts to assemble. The reason I gave it a 4 star rating is the first one I ordered never showed up, the next one was damaged. A refund was given for the first one, I had to reorder another at an additional $ 40. I felt that they should have sent a replacement at the same price. I did contact customer service several times and I felt that they will tell me anything to get me off the phone or chat, I requested a transcript of the conversation, never got one. copy before ending.

RaniaRania: This is a great garage opener for the price.
Pros:
- Reasonable price with many additional items like the two remote controls and keypad.
- Comes with detailed instructions for installation which makes is easy to install if you are planning to do it yourself.
- Seams to be good quality. I have it for several months so far and no issues yet.

Cons:
- Takes longer than expected to install. Almost a whole day.
- The buttons on the main unit are not working. I kept trying to use them but couldn't. Because I didn't want to take out the unit and return it after a whole day effort to install it, I ended up breaking the case and pushing the inside buttons to make it work.
- The keypad consumes the battery even if you don't use it. I have to replace the battery almost on a weekly basis although I rarely use the keypad. FYI, I use good battery brands.

In summary, I think it is a good purchase and has more pros than cons.

Chris R. Powell: This opener reinforced my like for Genie openers, of which I've bought quite a few over the years (in additional to Craftsman and Chamberlin, both of which I like less because they don't last as long). This was easy to install and set up, with very good instructions, complete hardware for every possible contingency, and good operating instructions. The opener is also amazingly quiet and works well. I highly recommend it. Great price on Amazon, too, in contrast to big-box and other hardware stores which wanted quite a bit more for this opener.
