Eliminate Contaminants from Your Water Supply with Home Master's Three-Stage Whole House Filtration System

William SmithWilliam Smith: I installed one of these in my previous house and in my current house. In south Georgia, the water has fine sediment, high iron and can have an odd taste. This system makes the water have no taste or smell. When we moved into our current house, we knew right away we were going to need to install a filter system. The HomeMaster did such a great job at our previous house that we installed it at our new house. It's that good.

Here are some tips you should know when considering this filter system.
1. If you want to be happy with this system, have your water tested! Don't skip this step. There are several different cannisters for the HomeMaster and you will want to make sure you use the ones that will give you the desired/best results.

2. Consider a pre-sediment filter. In the picture, the small filter to the left of the HomeMaster is a sediment filter. If you have heavy sediment, it will help extend the life of your HomeMaster's sediment filter greatly. Amazon Customer: Does a tremendous job on my problem water, combined with the 64,000 grain softener my water is incredibly soft and clean now. I’m waiting to see how long this system works before I have to change the filters because my water is pretty bad. If those filters last for 6 months Or longer I will be thrilled and recommend them to everyone in the area.
Update: I have really high iron concentration in my water and I’m sure that this system will last at least four months if not six before I have to swap out the first two filters. I’m going to change them at four so I can see what’s going on. Still beats the crap out of the culligan system I had.

Jennifer Hess: I wanted to wait awhile before I wrote my review. The water here in Prince Frederick, MD, Calvert County isn't the best. There is a heavy sulfur smell to the water and it is high in Iron as well. We first installed this system and all was going great. Then the smell started to come back. I called the company to see what else I could do to get rid of the smell. They suggested multiple solutions:
A) Pour 2 cups of unscented concentrated bleach in each empty sump and close the system to hand tight and fit snug tight with the wrench. DO NOT over tighten. B) Drain your hot water heater. C) Open the main water supply to the system. D) Open a faucet at the furthest point from the system and run water until you smell the chlorine. Flush the toilet. Repeat at each point of use moving towards the filter system.

If you find that the rotten egg scent is only coming from the hot water then I recommend flushing the hot water heater and additionally reviewing the link below with regard to checking the integrity of the sacrificial anode within the heater.
