Enjoy the best in under-sink and countertop filtration with the APEC Water Systems RO-90 Ultimate Series. James L.: Our family has been using a zero water filter for years and finally had enough of refilling the thing manually so we bought this system. We live in Florida and the tap (swamp) water is terrible here so this is money well spent. The system was easy to install with the help of a handyman though after watching I could do it myself as its fairly simple. The water tastes great and using the zero water TDS water tester it reads around 10-15ppm. This is probably due to the coconut filter in the final stage. We are very sensitive to odd tasting water and this system produces a very clean taste.
Wish I'd purchased one of these years ago but glad we chose this system.

Canadian: I have used this two months. Great to have wonderful water for drinking. Only one thing is product Warranty. Seems Canadian could not get it- my husband tried it. Maybe someone will let me know more details. Thank you !

RG: System is good but if you are like me and fitting quality is a factor, don't bother. I checked on install and none of the fittings are John Guest (JG). I called APEC support and the agent I spoke with verified that the JG fittings are only what they supply as replacement parts. To me this was almost a deal breaker if I hadn't installed already. I was looking for a quality North American product but they are getting harder to find. Water quality is good, build is solid but the fittings I don't trust them. Guess I will spend another $40 and buy fittings elsewhere.

Daniel Thomas: It was easily installed. Drilling the hole through the stainless sink for the faucet was the biggest hassle, but I have the tooling and experience and got it done. However, the RO system kept running and would not shut off. That wastes a lot of water. The pressure would not rise high enough to trigger the ASO valve. I had understood that low water pressure, such as in the 30-35 PSI range, would cause that, but I measured our pressure, using several gauges, at 45 PSI. I contacted the manufacturer and they suggested that we buy the RO-Perm model, which was more than $200 bucks more money. It has the permeate pump on it to solve some pressure problems. I instead bought the Aqua Tec ERP-1000 permeate pump for about $118 and installed it, taking out the ASO as recommended for our pressure range, and everything went to work normally and shut off when the tank was full.
Buyers need to know what their water pressure is, and they need to know that they might need more stuff to make this system work.
The permeate pump does make clicking noises when it's working, and that annoys some people. I found that most of the noise is emitted by the line to the drain, and by attaching...

Allan: Very good quality, tastes great, great flow. However, had to purchase pipe fittings, otherwise you have to slheat sodder pipes if you know how to do that reliably leak free. It took three hours only because it's my first time. Had to buy a proper copper pipe cutting tool..you need clean square smooth edges, sharkbite fittings for 1/2" to connect to existing pipes. All that cost another $50 Can. However, its worth it, great water and no flow issues or algae issues like the Berkey system, and cost for filters is more reasonable also. Just get your tools and parts and install the thing, you'll be happy too, but yes, a good effort first time around. Now I'm offering to get one for my parents and install it for them. You too can become a water person after you go through this ritual.

J. FloridaJ. Florida: Just installed so this is based on first impressions. Will update with longer term review.
Pull up a chair- this is going to be one of my longest reviews.
First, I decided to get this system because it claims to have filters that only need to be changed once per year. Also it has almost twice the daily volume of the 50gpd system.
Using a TDS meter, my tap water is around 360 to 340TDS. Ouch - that's very high. Min standards for city water is 400ppm for TDS so this is right below the limit. To compare, distilled water purchased locally has a TDS of about 120 ppm. Some bottled water I had handy was about 30 ish.
Installation -
Effort: I would rate this as easy for people who've installed things like a sink disposal. My only tools I needed were two adjustable wrenches. Make sure you have a stubby handle adjustable wrench with wide jaws. If one has never installed anything under one's sink then it might be seen as medium easy.
What will make this more difficult is deciding and drilling the hole for the faucet. I have a corian/synth marble top so I'm nervous about drilling. Have not done it yet. Many people will have an existing accessory hole so that...

Serge Lachapelle: Waited a few weeks before reviewing... now I have been drinking the water for a few weeks, I must say I really like it.
I am on a well that was dug last year at 160ft. My water is very hard and has over 700ppm of minerals but is otherwise great quality, no bacteria, no iron or other difficult to treat problems, just very mineral like it was expected in my area. So I installed a water softener to get the hardness down to less than one grain...in order to get ready for RO.
I was looking for a good quality RO system with made in USA or Canada filters. My most important criteria was to get a real Dow membrane which this model has. So, on to this RO unit...
Installation was done in about 2 hours. I am very handy and this was very easy. No leaks, no fuss... clear instruction (which is a frequent complaint with cheep systems). Every thing is high quality, the filter holders, the faucet and all of the hardware is very good...
Water tasted a little metalic the first few days... figure it was the system flushing out (tank and filters). Now don't worry about some black stuff in the first few flushes as this is the loose carbon in the carbon filters, they all do...

ronenronen: A lot of good descriptive reviews here, I'll add mine here but will focus on my perspective as someone living in Israel.
Israel is an arid country which in recent years made a big transition to desalination. The national water company (called "Mekorot") is using >50% desalinated water from the Mediterranean Sea mixed with about 25% water taken from the Galilee sea (which is actually a fresh water lake) and the rest comes from mountain and coastal plain aquifer. Water then travels in the "national conduit" to various regions in Israel.
The water in Israel are heavily treated, mostly because the national conduit is an open system, i.e. water travel in big pipes that are open to air and elements (e.g. rain water), but also because aquifer can become polluted with industrial waster and fertilizers, so does the Galilee sea.
Also chlorine is added and recently fluoride as well. not to mention whatever is picked up from pipes until it reaches the kitchen tap.
Local mineral water companies (with strong brands) draw from fountains in mountainous areas and bottle onsite, but are exposed to the same contamination of aquifer. For instance, one very strong brand I...

Lori Salati: We have very hard water, this has saved our coffee maker and our ice is finally clear, used to be a cloudy white. Wish we had purchased this years ago.
