Jess: Downsides: It's really loud and you don't have much space beneath it for anything other than the included bowl (which you won't really want to use for serving because it feels like a dog dish). The machine is very hard to clean if you want to try crushing up frozen fruit.

Plus side: it does a decent job of shaving ice, which is what it was intended for. It's also great to use if you're going to be popping ice into your smoothies and don't want to run your blender for days.

Grammy of 5: This works fast and shaves ice well, as it is meant to. However, the design is awkward and there are no safety features at all. As long as an adult uses this it should be fine but I would not let a child younger that 14-15 operate it.
