Charles: We use this under the sink to filter incoming city water. Works well, tastes fine, no leaks.

I wanted an under the sink filter that was similar to the system used in my RV. That system was reliable, didn't drop pressure and easy to change etc. This product is an exact copy (outside of brand) of what is installed in my RV - now I just need to stock the same type of 10" filter for both.

I'm writing this because every other review has been about the filter but not much on what is needed to install for an under sink, city water application. Entire project took 30mins. Installation is straight-forward IF you are aware of the following:

- Housing requires NPT/MIP fittings. DO NOT use MHT nor Garden hose thread.
- I needed 2 O rings per side, but this entirely depends on the depth of the Male thread in the adaptor you purchase.
- The housing’s water line (incoming and outgoing water) are sized 3/4" NPT/MIP (NOT MHT or Garden hose thread)
- Typical braided water lines have a female end that connects to house line are typically sized 1/2” OD.
- in my case I used 2x 3/4" MIP male to 2x 1/2" OD (Male) adaptors (Brass, lead free of course)

Big BruinBig Bruin: These Dupont housings made this project for me very easy. I have had four of these installed in a little setup I made for about 3 years now. The first two in each parallel path have a 10 micron sediment filter and the second two have a 5 micron activated carbon filter. It then feeds back to the house main supply line, as well as to a little tube connection to feed my whole house humidifier. By keep tracking of the gauges I see that pressure does not really drop much, but I can go about 6 months with a family of 5 before the sediment filter is discolored just about all the way through from my well water sediment.

The key thing with these is that the original o-rings are cheap black rubber and get compressed / leak quickly. The first time I needed a set I just ordered the Dupont replacements, which were way over priced. I have since measured and found that these housings use a standard 237 size o-ring (2-3/8 ID, 2-5/8 OD, 1/8 thick). Most recently I got a 5 pack of FDA grade red silicone ones elsewhere for about $6. Better o-rings for about a fifth of the price of the originals. Amazon has similar ones in a 10 pack for just over $10.

RixCanDoIt YoutubeRixCanDoIt Youtube: UPDATE 9/14/2020 : My units are leaking. I am not sure from where. It may be the seal rings need replacing. I will replace and test.

I shopped around like crazy for something I could use for a whole-house filter system without having to pay the big bucks. I came across this product and read the reviews of some who did some pretty nice multi-stage configurations.

So I decided to buy two of these to make a 2-stage whole-house system with the first stage being the included filter (think it is 15micron) and the second stage is the charcoal filter.

Next I had to learn quickly how to solder copper pipe as I've never done it before. A few Youtube videos later I went to work on my system. In the process I discovered my main gate valve was bad so that is a bonus as I replaced it with a ball valve.

Now I want to Pay Forward by adding photos and explanation here to help others because those who did the same really helped me to decide to go forward with this product and project and it has been working for a couple months or so without any issues.

In the photos below, the first photo shows the valve arraignment that I went with after reading the comments of...

FAAFAA: The housings are cheap and perfect for what I used them for:

I bought 3 of these and modified them by adding gauges to the top of the housing. Gauges are the only reasonable way to tell when the filters need replacing.

I started by realigning the top bracket with the pressure relief valve (picture 1 and 2).

That gave me a good template on the opposite side to drill a 7/16 hole (use a drill press to get a straight hole - picture 3).

Use a 1/4 npt tap in the hole  Hanson 8203 Tap 1/4-18 Npt Taper for Tap Die Extraction
(picture 4)

The finished product (picture 5) with the hole drilled and tapped.

Connect the three housings using two  LASCO 17-8669 3/4-Inch Male Pipe Thread Brass Hex Nipple

Install gauges. I used  Winters PEM Series Steel Dual Scale Economical All Purpose Pressure Gauge with Brass Internals, 0-100 psi/kpa, 2" Dial Display, +/-3-2-3% Accuracy, 1/4" NPT Bottom Mount  you could use fluid filled gauges, but I didn't see the benefit of the additional cost.

Using a good thread seal - NOT tape - such as  Rectorseal 23631 1/4 Pint Brush Top T Plus 2 Pipe Thread Sealant

blake m.: good product and stout plastic threads, I give 4 stars instead of 5 in that I am old fasioned in that I wish the threads were brass of some sort of copper. I do not recommend using TFE Paste, I tried this in my 3 filter system but it would not hold the pressure, so I replaced it with Teflon tape and it worked great. the setup I am using for my house is a 3 filter set 5 microns to a 1 micron to a carbon filter to the whole house with the water softener feeding into the filters. I also put a green coconut carbon filter under the sink for drinking water. The water is much more palatable, and probably would be better with higher quality filters, however I just got cheap ones to try it out to see how it does. So far the yellow water that i had before installation is clear, the taste is much better. The overall system was not hard to install, but will take some geometry. Water pressure has not dropped significantly either. Great system overall.
