Laura Grodzicki: These Jim Dunlop locks are super easy to install. On the guitar, just remove existing strap posts and replace with these using just a philips screwdriver. The strap end connects with a "C" washer and solidly holds the locking mechanism onto the strap. I put these on all of my guitars. The best strap lock system ever!!

bugman1952: I have installed 3 or 4 of these in lieu of the front strap button on my bass guitars and they are very secure, yet easy, to use.

HarVette: These are great. Positive, solid lock. I've tried all the others and this is by far the best. Add an occasional drop of synthetic oil, or WD40, and it will work forever.

Kevin Gralewski:
These are sturdy once installed and the large round attachment to the strap provides a better contact area than a lot of other brands. It is also fairly easy to install assuming the screw is the correct length.
If the screw is too long it will be difficult to find an alternative. The screw used in this set is a "Fillister Head" screw, which is slightly narrower and taller than a usual screw head. So if the screw is longer than your stock screw, you likely won't be able to buy a smaller screw at a hardware store as the head won't fit down into the button. If your guitar is solid body you can drill the hole a bit deeper, but if you have a hollow body, that might not be a wise option. You will either have to hope you can find one of these odd screws, or use something like a rotary tool to cut the screw to length. This is likely more work than a casual buyer is equipped/willing to perform for an install like this.

CS:
I acquired a new guitar that already had straplok studs installed, but I did not have any strap with the buttons. While a regular strap will grab the Straplok to some extent - I had several instances of it working loose and almost dropping the guitar. Finally - I figured enough was enough and ordered this item.
The buttons connected to my strap no problem and locked on nicely. I took the "studs" and put them on another one of my guitars - the strap is easily swapped between both. Not much else to say - does exactly what is advertised. Great addition as long as you're okay with "losing a strap" to the straplok system and/or retrofitting all of your guitars with the straplok studs!

Bill II ~ SDMF ~ 5150: I bought my first set of these back in 1992 when I bought my first good guitar (a 1982 Guild Nova electric, solid mahogany, HEAVY guitar!!). When I bought a strap to go along with that guitar the guy in the shop recommended a set of these since the guitar was on the heavy side. I figured a $450 guitar at the time was worth protecting with a $6 set of strap locks. Yeah, they're a little more expensive now at $10 a set but the piece of mind is well worth it. I tried the other sets and they've failed me. Now, all 16 of my guitars have Dunlop strap locks attached and every guitar I buy, no matter what the price gets a set. The "other" set (with the "pull-peg" release) will pop open from time to time. With these Dunlop locks, I've NEVER had that happen. I've actually thrown away two sets of the other brand because of failure and I recommend these to every player I know. They fit every guitar and strap and you'll never have to worry again. Buy these and play as hard as you want, your guitar (even my 50's Les Paul) is safe and sound!! Thank you Dunlop!! OH, and NO, I never got a free set, I paid full price for every set I own, this review is from the heart.
