Update…I do not recommend this item. I tried to use this in my shoe, but, it did not stick at all plus I tried six times and could not get it in the proper position. If I had, I would have to find that same spot every time I put my shoe on because the pad slips when I move my foot (and yes, I did remove the plastic sheet from the sticky side). I’m unable to return these because I threw away the original package.
Took some effort to figure out where this was supposed to sit on my foot. Never used these before, but once I got it in the right spot I felt immediate relief. Right now it just sits under my foot (not adhered to my shoe) because I have thick socks on with my Birkies and am only wearing it around the house. I wish that the packaging had an image of where to situate these pads because I almost threw them away thinking it was just more snake oil.

Cevapcici: Relives pain and gives plenty of support. But aligning the pads in your shoes is a PITA. The pads also get very sweaty and lose their sticky side after just a few weeks.

James: I’ve been putting up with terrible pain in my feet for months now. I have always had flat feet. Some people only have no longitudinal arch. I also don’t have the transverse arch - never have. And now I’ve developed bunions because of this. I saw these and thought I’d give it a try before having to invest in orthotics. The problem with orthotics is that I work from home and so very seldom wear shoes (I know lucky me-not as much as you’d think). So I thought I’d actually tape these on the bottoms of my feet for around the house. Voila! My feet felt better within days. So now I’ve ordered more to actually stick in my shoes.

David Crabtree: I was limping badly from pain in the ball of my right foot when I spotted these in a local store. I bought a pair of these and after using them for a day, the pain was gone. My local pharmacy has stopped stocking these so I buy them through Amazon. The most difficult part is getting these positioned in exactly the right spot in my hiking shoe. With my hand and the pad both in the hiking shoe, I can't see what I am doing and so have to go completely by feel. It took a few tries to get it right, but when positioned correctly it works to relieve my foot pain. The pad tends to move when removing my shoe, and so most mornings I have to reposition it. This pad puts pressure on a spot just behind the ball of your foot, and so at first it is uncomfortable, but after wearing it a little while I don't notice that and the pain in the ball of my foot is gone.

C. Carrillo :
After overdoing treadmill and elliptical machine in my old running shoes, I began having metatarsal pain in my left foot. It got to the point where even wearing cushioned slippers was not enough to prevent the pain. At first I used gel cushions under the ball of my foot, which seemed to help but these things were what really did the trick!!
I was skeptical, not really thinking that wearing a cushion behind the area I was experiencing the pain would help... but I was so wrong!!
These things allowed me to continue moderate cardio as i healed, and after a couple weeks all pain was gone even without the inserts!!
Be sure you place them in the correct position behind the ball of your foot but before your arch. They DO NOT go underneath the ball of your foot like a cushion! They work by spreading your toe bones out and need to go just behind the ball of your foot. I also use arch support inserts and stuck these babies onto the end of them so I was able to wear both my heel/arch support insert and these things at the same time.
In the beginning they do take some practice to get into the right position and then getting them to stay while you put your foot...

Googlen "where to place metatarsal pads". Si las recomiendo.

Alegria: It did stay put but is made out of hard rubber so it makes whatever shoe you use even more uncomfortable.

Justin: These are the only pads on the market i have found that give me any pain relief. However, Dr. Scholl's, in all their infinite wisdom, decided to make the adhesive "temporary." What purpose does that serve? It falls off immediately. They are useless. I can't walk 5 steps in my office with them, running or doing any yardwork with them will never happen. If they actually made a good adhesive on these I would buy 50, because the pad is the perfect level of support for my metatarsal pain. Oh well, guess I'll just get insoles.
