T-Bear: I've used these combs for years on my 80# double coated dogs. They don't last forever but are much better than any other flea comb I tried. The sturdy double row of teeth catches the fleas and holds them for a quick dip in hot water w/detergent. If the flea is lively, just put your thumb on it to hold it on the comb as you do the dip! Flea combing isn't a substitute for flea meds but it helps you with any sudden infestation when the meds lose effectiveness. Just ordered another couple to have in reserve and thought I ought to give a good product some praise!

Daniel Garcia: I’ve had this comb for about 3-4 years & used this on both my bunny & just recently my new kitten who’s about 4 weeks old. Comb still works fine & has no signs of damage on it but yes if there are fleas in your pet then be sure to deep clean the comb because fleas do get trapped between the grooves & can come back alive if not properly cleaned
Bunny is 4 years old & at age 2 needed a minor flea bath (yes I know you can’t give bunnies a shower/bath) to which the comb did it’s job & my bunny is now fine
Kitten is 4 weeks old & is a stray kitten so a major flea bath was needed & took about an hour to thoroughly clean & check for all fleas (considering his fur color is grey soo not easy to spot fleas) regardless the comb held up well & does the job considering it’s been over 3-4 years now of having the comb & just recently using it

Katie: I have two indoor cats. Sometimes in the summer I let them enjoy my parents back yard. I don't like giving them flea treatments as one of them is very sensitive and his stomach gets upset whenever I give them a preventative flea treatment. Last week I let them outside a few times on the weekend and I noticed one of my catch had started scratching her neck, so I picked up this comb to confirm my guess. I gave a first pass with the comb (it took less than a minute) and I got a flea. He got stuck in the comb and I drowned him in soapy water. I gave both cats a few passes and I didn't catch any more fleas. It's been a few hours and my cat no longer seems to be scratching her neck, so I highly recommend this comb. Every time my cats visit my parents back yard I'll give them a pass with this comb to make sure I'm catching any little creepy crawlies. This device is fantastic! Both my cats have fine hair and they seemed to enjoy the experience. It also picked up some kibble crumbs and random dust, so it's very effective.

Vicki: I'd previously used a standard flea comb on my cat which was useless really. It did catch fleas, but the fleas moved like the clappers and would immediately run or jump off the comb. With this comb the fleas are caught between the double row of teeth. Eggs, larvae, flea dirt and loose hair are also removed. My cat has a dense coat, this comb doesn't tug and the teeth are rounded, not sharp.

I keep a large jar of water close by with a squirt of washing up liquid in, ready to dunk the comb to remove the fleas and keep them in the jar. I use Ecover unscented liquid. I then rinse the comb in a jar of clean water, and roughly dry it before continuing.

It does take a bit more effort to clean because of the double row of teeth. I use a small bristle brush to sweep out any flea dirt or eggs into the soapy jar. After a combing session I give the comb and brush a clean with neat washing up liquid to kill off anything too small to see.

This is working really well for my cat, we're definitely winning. Huge relief!

First of all, we do not nor have we ever had fleas in our home. We are not fans of chemical flea and tick products and won't use them.

This review is for the Safari Flea comb W6161 double row flea comb and also for the W560 NCL00 single row flea comb. I purchased both this year. I use the double row flea comb on all dogs and one cat. It is easier to comb through the coat of a Great Pyrenees where the single row flea comb will not budge on the coat of a Pyr. The double row flea comb removes debris, but not all dry skin flakes that may rest on the top layer of a dog's skin. It does a good job but is not totally perfect. And I don't expect it to be perfect. The double row flea comb is well tolerated by our longer haired "fluffy" cat. And it does a good job of removing hair that is shedding and thereby reduces cat hair balls.

After I have used the double row flea comb on the two smaller dogs and the cat, then I go back with the single row flea comb and give a good comb out. It removes shedding dog and cat hairs and dry,flaky skin as well as small debris. By helping to keep their coat and skin clean and debris free, their coat and skin stays...

Jennifer B.: I have purchased flea combs in the past that were made of poor materials and did not last. This flea comb is NOT one of them. The teeth of the comb are made of a strong metal and do not bend or separate. They drag easily through my cats long thick hair and do a nice job of trapping the fleas. Another reviewer mentioned that by the time you see the fleas they have jumped right off again, but I have not had that problem. If you do, however, it's easy to solve: simply wrap a tissue around the comb's teeth right after you remove the brush from your animal's hair and then drop it in warm sudsy water. The soap will kill the fleas but will not harm your animal should you have to get the comb wet. The comb does an absolutely fantastic job of removing the fleas and the closely knit double row of teeth ensures that the fleas will be captured. The handle has a fantastic grip and is comfortable to hold while you are combing your pet. I don't love the color but it's not like my flea comb has to be stylish.
