Mary Lou Acosta: One of the best books I read in 2019!

When you're feeling tired, depressed and depleted, you just want to read something that is short and straight to the point. This is what I liked the most about this book. It's very easy to read and I found it very helpful!

3 years have passed since I read this book, but I'm still doing the things Charlie wrote in the book:

1. Fixing my micronutrient deficiencies - long term stress took toll on my body that I couldn't feel hunger even if I had not eaten for days except for a slice of cake (!!!) I had no appetite and I didn't have energy to do anything. Even taking a shower became a difficult chore! Once I got my micronutrient fixed and learned to eat properly I had more energy to....
2. Play - I still can't believe I used to feel guilty to rest/play. I schedule time now to spend time with my friends. I am also grateful that the company I am currently working for right now values employees’ well-being.

Thanks Charlie for writing this book! Life's better!

Jon B: I thought this was a really good book with some great ideas. It isn’t so much a reading book for me but was great for skimming through and grabbing ideas - the point of the book is play not study

lukasz: It's a well written book and there are some great tips in it but it says to get rid of things that are causing you anxiety. You should not run away from every problem because sometimes you'll be confronted with the same and not know how to deal with it. What you should take from this book is to remove negative people from your life which works great, go out and play (increasing your serotonin levels, making you happier), ditch the stimulants and alcohol, and stop being such a workaholic because its detrimental to your health.

Fabian: Are 5-Stars justified? For me, absolutely. But don't take my word for it. Read on and decide for yourself.

"All I wanted was to lock myself in a room and curl up in a ball." [Quote from this book]

Does this thought sometimes run through the back of your mind?
In my case it was. But luckily not anymore. Reading Play It Away was one of the reasones. Here is why:

"Do I feel guilty when I am not working?"
"Have I stopped playing with my friends?"
"Am I indoors all day long, depriving myself of fresh air and sunlight?"

If you answered "yes" to most of the above questions, you should follow the strategies and the simply step-by-step "Cure for Anxiety". You can read all about it in Charlie's lean book called...Play It Away.

Listen: At the beginning of 2014, I too answered "yes" to every single question, a total of nine questions in his book. From that moment it dawned upon to me: "I must be a highly anxious person." I didn't really know what "being anxious" means.
Anyway I bought his book (and a few other) to find out more about it.

But now everything changed when I pursued a new approach: Play! Sounds ridicolus? It is. In fact,...

Marius from Germany: I must say I really liked the book. Charlie described exactly the same symptoms & mind-set I experienced myself ( hand shaking, work is the only thing u can think off, scared to get a nervous break down around people, etc.). After having talked to many people with this sort of lifestyle, I know many people feel the same way - especially people in tough industries like banking and consulting.

To summarize, I think this book is a must-read for everyone in this type of situation as I now: No doctor can help you - you just can help yourself! So get the book - it s a good chance that it might make you fell better!

Shahrzad: I was a long-time anxiety sufferer and I'm in my early 20s. I should be more relaxed than ever at this age! But I was living in anxiety about everything-you name it: school, work, family's health, social life, love life, I was not a normal carefree college kid. I would search methods of calming anxiety through food, meditation, and mostly books. I was able to comprehend advanced psychological solutions but I felt it was only exacerbating and exaggerating my condition more. When I came across this book and saw its main focus was "play" I thought it wasn't for me. Unlike Charlie Hoehn, I am not workaholic, quite opposite, I was an avoider. I certainly cared about my courses, so much that the anxiety of failing lead me to procrastination, avoidance, and when I did study- I was too foggy to absorb the heavy material. And I actually thought I was "playing" but I realized my "play" was not healthy leisure and only worsened my condition. I would waste precious time on social media, reading blogs, watching videos, and surf sites or when I did go out with a friend- it was drinking coffee and talking about the negatives and stressors of our lives.

Within the first week, my anxiety...

DarrenCornish: A straightforward book from a guy willing to be honest about where he got to and what it took to get from there. Lots of practical tips and good resources. Quick and easy to read. I'll make a few subtle changes as a result of reading which has to be worth the small outlay.

Harry: I think it's safe to say that many of us lack the work ethic of Charlie Hoehn. His plots of working 60 straight hours or raising $2 million in startup revenue over the course of 10 days may not relate in experiences of the rest of us. In fact, I may speak for many of my peers (I am in the same graduating class as Hoehn) when I say that self-doubt and self-sabotage are what largely contribute to my anxiety. My personal issues don't exactly stem from the stress and anxiety that come from working a high paying dream job, and as such you'd think I'd be the last person in the world to need a book that's specifically catered to the anxiety of workaholics.

That wasn't the case. This book, quite beautifully, means different things to different people. No matter where you are at in life, we all struggle to achieve harmony on some level. Some of us try fixing this by working long hours or by ramping up the intensity. Others might pull back or quit or question if anything is even worth it. But if we fail to recognize the source of our creative energy, our efforts quickly tap out and that hole never gets filled. Play It Away, probably unlike any book before it, lays out not just how to...
