I love these Delta valves. I've installed several, and always opted to get the kind with the integrated stops. That way you can get it rough in like I have in my pictures and turn your water system back on, without needing the complete valve and trim assembly to be installed (which would require that your tiling and everything else is already complete). Since the stops are accessible even after tiling, it's simply a matter of installing the valve cartridge at the end of the job and opening the stops.
The best part for me, as a diyer with only so-so soldering skills is that you can completely disassemble the valve before soldering to it, so there's no plastic parts remaining inside which you risk melting. The fit and finish of these valves is excellent imo. And the instructions are very clear about how far back you need to set it in the wall.

My old delta rough-in had a pin hole leak in the back. I ordered this in hopes it would fit my existing catridge and trim. No such luck, but it seems Delta has improved the quality so I didn't mind ordering replacements. But this was fairly easy to install, and when paired with new trim & cartridge completely solves my problem. The only thing I really wish for improvement is a version that includes sharkbites. The four sharkbites shown in the photo cost just as much as the valve, and it seems silly. I don't know what genius decided to put a stud there, but it means the only reasonable options for connecting where sharebite or solder. I had to rip out the tiles and sheet rock because the builder choice solder which mean access to both side of the stud were required even just to cut the pipes.
Hopefully this will last decades, but I'll update my review if it doesn't...

Purchased a couple of these to replace some old Temptrol valves we had in our house. I loved the idea of being able to isolate water from the cartridge directly from the valve as opposed to shutting the water off to your house. They are easy to use and get to as well, love this feature.
The finish on this valve is superb. Threads were perfect and the finish inside all of the solder connections as well as where the cartridge is inserted were perfectly polished and made pipe soldering and cartridge installation a walk in the park. There were no burrs or anything on the outside of the valve either, I was very impressed with how smooth and clean everything was. 5 stars on the valve.
The only reason I take a star away is because of the plastic mounting bracket. The first valve I received the bracket was cracked and broken in multiple spots that rendered it unusable. The box it came in was undamaged but they do not have any bubble wrap or anything inside of it to protect this part from getting damaged during shipping. It's not a deal breaker but compared to what this bracket is attached to it falls well short. A little more attention to detail...

A review from my wife: We purchased 2 of these units for our new home. Both are working well. This unit has to be purchased with the "Delta T17264-SS-I Ashlyn Monitor 17 Series Shower Trim with In2ition Two-in-One Hand shower Shower head" when you are building a shower from scratch. These are reasonably priced and over all we are very happy with them. I would recommend them. My only complaint is the same complaint I have on all faucets and shower heads constructed these days from every manufacturer: GET RID OF THE WATER SAVERS. I love Delta faucets. Other than 1 sink in a guest bathroom, we bought all Delta. However, I find that water savers (those little pieces of plastic they put up in the faucet head to slow the flow of water to near a trickle...I exaggerate....but not much) do not save water. I'm sure there is some researcher somewhere who disagrees. However, if I have to stand there under the shower for longer trying to get the soap out of my hair, what water have I saved? It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode with the "low flow shower head". We also have a gas tankless hot water heater. You have to let the water run awhile to get the water to...
